My Monsters Part 2

I'm seven years old now. It's been a year since my mother disappeared. "Disappeared" that's the word my aunt used when she talked about her. No one believed me when I said the monsters got her. My aunt doesn't like me much. She calls me a liar and blames me for her sister's death. I feel so alone. I lay in my bedroom. A tiny old storage room which was converted for me to stay in. I don't often get to leave this small room. All I have is a bed, dresser barely full of my clothes, and a small toy box holding maybe ten toys. The only one I really cared about was my stuffed cat that I had named Ruby at age four.
I'm laying in bed. It's late at night. Maybe two or three o'clock. I can hear a rustling noise in my closet. I'm to scared to sit up and look. I pull my blankets over my head. My breathing is deep. I don't want whatever is in my closet to hear me. I feel something bump into my bed. I have to put my hand up to my mouth to muffle my scream. I can feel someone tugging on my blanket. It finally gets ripped off my body. I can't cover my eyes anymore. I have to see what is in my room. I see a dark figure. I'm holding onto Ruby scared that I will lose her too. The figure stands over me and I can barely see features in its face. I think I can make out horns sticking out the top of its head. Bright red eyes glaring at me. A very pointed nose almost reaching out to me. It's mouth full of large jagged teeth. Before I can take everything in the creature speaks to me. "Layla. Come with me. I know where your mother is. I'm scared but when I hear him speak of my mother I sit up in my bed. "Are you trying to trick me? You're a monster aren't you? Like from under my bed?" The monster nodded his head. He pulled something out of a small sack on laying on the side of his hip. "I'm Prox and your mother sent me to give you this necklace as proof." He handed the necklace to me. I opened it up and looked inside. It was my mother's pendent. It had a picture of me on one side and a picture of her and my father on the other side. I looked up at Prox. "Let's go." He held his hand out to me and I took it. With one hand in his I held onto Ruby in the other. We walked hand and hand into the closet and into the world of monsters...
