Did you know that one time when I was with my sister and her boyfriend, we went to a diner? In that diner, the waitress asked my sister if she wanted a kids menu for me. I’m not sure how the waitress thought I was a child because I felt that I was dressed maturely when that happen. I guess people automatically make the connection that my shortness equals to me being young.
The funny part was that previously I was talking to my sister about how it’s sometimes hard for me to be taken seriously, because people assume that I’m a kid. So only an hour later, going to that diner ended up showing her that yes, I wasn’t kidding around when I said that.
Sometimes being short has it’s benefits, such as pretending to be a “child” when going to the theater. Though that only works if I’m with people that are taller and much older then me. Doing that makes it obvious that I’m younger then those I’m with and it’s harder for people to call out my bluff. There’s also other places that I can get away doing that too but not always.
It’s mostly a pain though, it gets hard to find a job with my height and youthful appearance. And to make matters worst, I don’t have experience in working so that adds onto the difficult meter. They’ll always higher someone who already has experience over someone who doesn’t. If not, and all they’re getting is applications of people who don’t have any experience, then they pick out the one who has some type of experience or talent. But even then, they’ll probably not pick me because most of the time I can’t reach the damn counter in some stores when I’m buying stuff. Not a good impression and they probably don’t want to have their customers think that they support child labor, if I work there.
