The appeal of having followers is great! It means that people find the things you say interesting and want to continue to read more things from you. I appreciate those that follow me and it makes me feel happy. Plus, it encourages me to try and post something everyday. It also lets me know that I'm not talking to myself most of the time. lol Since I'm still new to Tumblr, I've learned that some people on here take it a little too serious. So much that they curse their unfollowers out or post pictures of their middle figure or other violent images towards them. If not that, they make an announcement that they lost a follower(s) and that they won't be missed. Ummmm, what? It’s petty. The only people who are reading your angry post are the ones who are still following you. It doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture about you from their point of view. Besides why rant about those who unfollowed you when they won't even see it. Because they either deleted their Tumblr or they didn't and just don't want to follow you for whatever reason. Maybe one of those reasons is that they want to cut down the number of those they follow? Or maybe they can't keep up with all the posts on their dashboard and need to temporarily unfollow you so they can go through all those posts? Maybe they accidentally followed you. Maybe they're new to Tumblr and figured out what the following is all about and realize what blogs they rather follow. Or they unfollow because whenever they click on their dashboard it takes forever to load because there's so many images or gifs that you post (and from other people)? Maybe they unfollow because some of your posts make them uncomfortable/uneasy and get upset about certain topics? Or they are getting sick of seeing the same type of posts by people. Maybe they're too young and weren't suppose to have a Tumblr? Or their parents found inappropriate things on their dashboard? There are many reasons and some of them aren't malicious. Whatever it is, they have their reasons. It's silly to over react over something like that. I doubt they would come back to check your blog just to see if you'll call them out for unfollowing. Even so, it's rude to curse them out for doing that. It's not like they went on your blog leaving horrible comments of not liking your blog which would make sense to rant about. Besides, there's more to blogging than that. It's YOUR blog. Who's writing and keeping that blog updated? Them? No, it's you. What do you think inspire authors to write? Their fans? For popularity? No, they didn't have fans then. They don't do it for their readers or for the attention. They do it for themselves. They write because they love to write and it's their passion. It's what motivates them and they don't let others discourage them from doing what they love to do. Just keep that in mind. Having people follow you isn't everything and if they want to unfollow you then let them be.
