Powers
Force Sight- As a Miraluka, Jael has the same force sight as the rest of her kindred due to their lack of eyes.

Clothing
Jael prefers, for the most part, light-colored clothing hemmed and stitched with a near-crimson red- the crimson color has always appealed to her tastes, as have many of the lighter shades of orange, yellow, and blue that she keeps in her wardrobe. The only exception to this particular "rule" of her wardrobe are the few clothes that are varying shades of purple, which range anywhere from a more mid-tone color to near-black.

Her nightclothes are of a more unusual design than the pants-and-shirt that make up the majority of her clothing, however. While it does sport full sleeves and pant legs, the sleeves still expose a fair amount of her arms. While some of her legs are also exposed, it's mostly along the outside of her knees and down her shins before wrapping back around her ankles to hold it in place. It also bears some padding on the inside of her knees, as she often prefers to sleep on her side.

The only actual black "clothing" that she has is her small mask, used to keep her eyes covered. It resembles something like a pair of sunglasses, as it doesn't cover much of her nose, but is held on more like a sleep mask would. Also unlike the rest of her garments, her mask is stitched with thread that matches the color of her hair, along with two strings of the same color that run around her ear and connect at the back of her head.

The one exception to her lack of black clothing is the disguise she made for herself while en route to Dantooine after Cooper's parents were killed in an attempt to get at the Nautolan bounty hunter. It consists of a tough black, silk-like fabric, sewn into a v-neck long-sleeve shirt, relaxed leggings and a pair of moccasins. A pair of gloves- securely hidden inside of her sleeves by her wrists- and a hooded cloak also makes up part of the ensemble- carefully attached to several points along the collar of the shirt and folded to remain hidden- but only for when she desires to be nigh unrecognizable, as the hood has a face mask that entirely obscures her face. Though the mask is a similar fabric to the rest of the outfit, it is a thinner material, allowing her to breathe easily even under great physical stress. Part of the cloak also wraps over one shoulder and covers the exposed part of her chest, securely attaching to the collar of the shirt to keep her entire body hidden from view.

Personality
Jael is, for the most part, a rather reserved individual, especially in light of the events since her departure from her home-world of Alpheridies. In part due to the same events- as well as those of her childhood and especially into her teenage years- she also has a bit of a temper that tends to rear its ugly head a bit more than she'd like, though it typically doesn't take her long to calm back down.

The Miraluka is also a compassionate woman, oftentimes able to "feel" the emotions of those she becomes close to through the Force. This allows her to more properly help her friends in their times of distress, though it has also caused her own distancing due to her lack of a similar person to lean on. She is often afraid to explore her own emotions outside of what she feels are "safe emotions" for this very reason.

While she is an independent and strong woman, which is often found to be appealing, Jael can sometimes act so to a fault, driving a further wedge between herself and potential friends. It has also led to some more aggressive behavior when confronted in a more threatening way- aggression that is steadily becoming more and more scarce, and far more dangerous, as she slowly learns more about the Force and how to manipulate it.

Background
Born on the Miraluka home-world of Alpheridies, Jael grew up in one of the many farming communities on the planet. Born to one of the more average- and dull- families of the region, she was usually fairly bored as a growing child, as there wasn't much to do for children around the house.

Around the time she was five, though, two things happened; the first was that her family- along with several others in the area- were gifted kath hounds as pets by a generous and wealthy noble who was visiting the planet to discuss potential trading. Jael immediately fell in love with the creature, naming it Rae'khal, though her father tried to keep her from being around it very often despite the girl's persistence. Towards the end of her fifth year, her mother began to teach her how to sew, an apprenticeship that would take up much of the next eight years of her life.

Despite protests from both of her parents, Jael managed to balance her time learning to sew and spending time with Rae'khal, whom she became very attached to during that time. Over the next few years, she managed to train Rae'khal to great obedience, turning him into an impressive- though far from fatal- guard animal. Though her father was disappointed that she continually disobeyed them, he was thankful that she had trained Rae'khal to act as a guard, as it had fended off would-be robbers on more than one occasion.

After she turned eleven, however, her life took a sudden turn for the worse; her faithful companion, along with the rest of the kath hounds that had been gifted to the community, became accused of slaughtering part of a local herd. Indeed, the deaths of the animals, as the herdsman had claimed, matched the attacks of the hounds and, despite the protests of Jael, her father put down the beast. Distraught, she began spending as much of her waking hours around the local computer systems as she did at home, reading and studying what she could to try to distract herself from the pain of the recent loss. It took much of the remainder of the year for her parents to calm her down from it, eventually persuading her to stay at home more, though she still left on occasion to continue her personal studies that were slowly beginning to feed a growing wanderlust and desire to leave Alpheridies.

Several more years of this passed and, as she got older and more experienced at her craft, she began to get paid some of the money that her family made off of the clothes. Not long before her fifteenth birthday, her parents announced to her that they were going to be separating and would be officially split some time during the next year. The blow came hard and sudden, as she had neither seen nor heard any warning that this might happen. The news through her into a sort of numbing shock that seemed to sever most of her emotions, though it drove her to new lengths of her sewing and research of other worlds and space travel, a move that not only drove her away from home more often, but also put a hefty wedge in the already tedious relationship that she held with both of her parents.

As Jael made more and more money from her tailoring, she saved the vast majority in an account that she kept hidden from her parents- an account that, by the time she left the planet at age 18, held approximately 15,000 credits which was used to purchase additional materials to make clothing, along with pay for her fares while she traveled.

Interestingly, not long before her flight leaving Alpheridies, she stumbled across a peculiar artifact hiding in a bush near what was about to be her old home. Reaching in, she picked up what at first appeared to be an oddly-shaped piece of metal, but quickly recognized it for what it was- a lightsaber. She hid in an area blocked from view while she activated it, giving it a few test swings. Though she barely missed her ankle on one of the first passes, it didn't take her long to get a bit of a feel for the weapon- in fact, it almost felt natural in her hands. Before she left for the hangars, Jael hid the weapon in her pack, carefully wrapping it in some of her clothes.

Her first journey was a short one, as the ship was flying to the planet Onderon to deliver a small shipment of weapons and take a day-long break from travel; the crew, she found out, had been out for a few months. One of the pilots- a misleadingly scrawny man- would eye her whenever he though she wasn't paying attention while he was able to step away from the controls. It made her uncomfortable enough to try to get away from the ship as quickly as possible after landing, though she wasn't quite fast enough. The man followed her and managed to corner her in a more remote part of town, where he forced her into submission and, after knocking her bag away from her while she was desperately searching for her lightsaber, gagged and raped her, leaving her a humiliated and scared individual. Before she managed to bring herself to report the incident to local security, the ship had left the planet, en route to its next destination. Disheartened and now extremely wary of strangers, she had moved her lightsaber from her baggage to a hidden spot in her clothing for easier access should she find herself in a similar situation a second time.

She remained on the planet for a few weeks, selling the clothing she made to any who would buy, as the local currency was not the same as what she grew up with and nobody would exchange it. Fortunately for her, Jael spent her next trip on a much more friendly passenger ship that was traveling to Zeltros for a two-week vacation. Though the atmosphere was enjoyable, Jael's stay was significantly shorter than those of the vacationers she had traveled with, as many of the activities around her made her quite uncomfortable. She departed less than three days later with a Corellian-bound female Zeltron, Kryva, who took delight in not only the Miraluka's company, but also in the clothing Jael made, paying her handsomely for several custom-tailored outfits.

With Kryva's help, Jael found a temporary place to stay on Corellia, calling Coronet City her home for much of the next year. Making and selling clothing from her home there, Jael made excellent profit from her handywork and, at the advice of the Zeltron she had befriended- and, consequently, often found herself making outfits for- invested a fair amount of it in precious metals and gems to avoid the need to exchange currency as often as possible when she decided to travel again.

It wasn't until nearly a year after she first let home that Jael decided it was time to move on, visiting Kryva one last time before departing. She spent the next six months essentially world-hopping and making clothing for any who requested it (and could pay) during her travels given enough time. During the months of travel, she visited nearly a dozen other planets throughout the galaxy, often staying for two days to a week at each planet before moving on. She spent time on Eriadu, Tatooine, Bespin, Ryloth, and Kashyyk, amongst others (planets named in no particular order).

Towards the end of her six-month series of journeys, Jael boarded a large commercial transport ship on Eriadu that was bound for Coruscant, making several other stops along the way. It was somewhere between Corellia- a brief stop that stirred up some fond memories- and its final destination that it was attacked by pirates who were looking for a person they never found. Jael put her lightsaber to as good of use as she could, though her complete lack of training with the weapon did little good against the skilled hand of one of the vibroblade-wielding pirates. Suffering a nasty cut to one shoulder and several more minor cuts elsewhere along her torso, she managed to fend off the attacker long enough for a smuggler/bounty hunter named Cooper to rescue her. After a brief argument that ended with him telling her that she needed to "Cooper-ate" if she wanted to survive, she begrudgingly agreed to leave the assaulted vessel with him, departing undetected by the raiders and making their escape to Coruscant.
