Sai's eyes fluttered open. She was bleary eyed and everything was a smudge in her field of vision.
Cold air blew onto her and she shivered and huddled under the soft downy blankets of the bed.
Thirty seconds later Sai thought for a second
"Wait a minute..." she whispered to herself.'Downy blankets and cold air?' she thought. Where had she fallen asleep last night ?
She scrunched her eyebrows togeher. She remembered she had a little vodka last night. She searched her memory harder...She remembered falling asleep in a black sudan with a thin sheet covering her.
"Where the hell am I?!" Sai suddenly flung off the covers and sat straight up in bed. Awake and alert now, she peered at the sceenery in front of her.
The bedroom was furnished with polished Victorian furniture, but had hints of modernization in it. There was an antique arwior and a white, plush ,silken chair across the room. The bed Sai had slept on had gold plated claws at the bottom and the bed post was dotted with intricate gold flourishes. A dresser with a beautiful mirror, framed in an intricated pattern of sparkling silver, hung on the wall above. Sai noticed the warmly clored persian rug on wood floors , which slightly matched with the deep, almost crimson, walls. Also, tucked in the corner. was a small wooden desk with a laptop placed in the center
Sai only had seconds to take in the room's beauty because she happened to glance down at her clothes. The silken dress was stiped red and black and had lace at the top and hem, which was cut short, to her disgust." This dress isn't mine..." she muttered," and more importantly, how did this get on me?!?"She strormed to the doorway, noticing the doorknob was glass, and flung herself out of the room.
Sai stopped short. She had stepped into a huge, looming corridor. The whole corridor was clad in red;the wall, the carpeting. Even the marbled pillars that supported the huge place had red lining. The tinted windows were framed in thick, luxurious red draperies.'Tinted windows...' her heart skipped a beat and a troubling thought pushed into her mind.'No' she pushed the thought violently back down into her mind' It couldn't be...'
Sai pushed on through the grande corridor. She didn't know where she was going but she continued resolutely. She just had to get out of this house...
A black shadow danced in front of her eyes. This fed her suspicions. ' No' she told herself again ' It's just your overactive imagination'. Sai took a deep breath and cleared her mind. 'No one here'.
Then, to her dismay, the black silohette of a man flicked ten feet in front of her. He was tall with broad sholders. Just what she had feared.
The man took a step forward, putting his features into view. He had long almost waist-lenght length silver hair, though he was not old. He had an azure blue gaze that could peirce right through you and it also had a hint of arrogance in it. His lips were parted in the most cruel smile, like he had just skinned your pet dog alive and he held it in his hand right now, wanting to show you.He was a truly beautiful, sexy, scary man. But the thing that really struck cold fear into Sai's heart, to make her breathing stop suddenly, was his fangs.
"No" she breathed. She had hoped with all her heart that this wouldn't happen. He can't be a vampire. He just can't.
The silver-haired man chuckled slightly, as of he was amused that she was frightened. "Maybe I can eat you before Master finds out your here."
he said lightly. Sai knew the man was dead serious and feared for her life.
Suddenly, a voice like silk sounded behind one of the marble pillars."Ronove, I've already found out she's here, so you can stop torturing the poor girl."There stood a tall man, level headed with Ronove, with jet black hair and tempting mauve colred eyes.He turned to me, fluttering my pulse," Ignore him. He dosen't mean half the things he says."He gazed at Ronove and they seemed to exchange a message only they knew the meaning of. Ronove seemed to disagree but he didn't let this other, rather handsome, man know. "Yes master Semei. I will leave her for you to eat."
He gave a gallant bow and left the enormous corridor.
Seeing Sai's terrified face, Seimei quickly reassured her,"Oh, I'm not going to drink from you! I mean, I AM a vampire but I have control over my feeding habits."Semei ruffled Sai's hair. The jesture was considerably informal given he had just met her, but Sai didn't mind. It almost seemed..natural to her. She shook the peculiar feeling off her mind and smoothed down her hair. Semei started walking the way he came.
" Umm... Excuse me Semei...sir...but I need to get out of here".It was true. She had left a beloved cat and a brokenhearted boy back at home. 'Kukai' she thought and homesickness washed over her. She desparetly needed to get back home.
Semei stopped in mid-walk." You don't know?" He turned to her with a curious look on his face(which made him look damn sexy)."Your staying here for ten years to serve and protect us." He said ten years so lightly, like it was nothing. Of course, it WAS nothing for a vampires." What?!? No, no, no, you don't understand. I have a life and I can't wait ten years to live it! It'll be too late." Her voice cracked and Sai cursed herself under her breath. she hadn't meant show her emotions to this stranger. At least, she thought he was a stranger.
He sighed "Sorry Sai, but rules state you must stay here." Sai anger boiled up."What rules. I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know you!" she almost shouted. This was crazy. This whole day was crazy.
Semei was upon her in the blink of an eye, closing the intimate space between them. Her grabbed her wrists and pressed her against one of the pillars."Sai, we both know that's not true." There was a hint of anger in his gaze. Looking into those beautiful mauve eyes, Sai melted a little and she remembered she was only wearing a skimpy lingerie. After a few secods she thought of Kukai and instantly snapped out of her daze. She ripped her slipped her wrists from Semei grasp and looked away." I don't know you." she muttered halfheartedly.
Semei backed off, hurt flashing in his eyes. His voice immediately became curt and cold." If you keep insisting that I'm a stranger to you then I'll be one." The words definitely affected Sai but she didn't show it(with much effort). Semei continued to walk.
Sai watched him go with a broken stare. She told herself she shouldn't be feeling that way about Semei, not when she had Kukai."Kukai..." she said aloud. The words seemed to fling her back into memories of love, hate, and nostalgia. She remembered the way Kukai had kissed her the last day she spent at home. Taishou, her cynical and intellectual cat, had showed a side Sai hadn't known. He obviously cared about her and even apoligized for all the bad things he had said about her. It wasn't much of an apology but if you knew Taishou, it was a lot. How could she spend ten years in this place(which she had not seen even a fraction of) doing whatever and be missing home so desperately?
'No' she told herself, 'I have my own free will and I can decline their offer and go back home'. They didn't even know if she was alive or not. She had to tell them that the journey had been safe and easy and she had brought back the information.'WB12005DndkK' she remembered the code exactly and had the laminated piece of paper safely inside her pants pocket. She remembered she didn't have her pants on and she ran in a circle in a useless attempt to find someway to find her pants. She spotted Ronove staring at her with a bemused look,"What are you doing Mistress Sai?" He seemed to lose all formality when Semei wasn't around or just around her and Sai thought she knew why. She narrowed her eyes accusingly," Did you put this dress on me?"
" Yes Mistress ,but I promise I didn't see anything" his twithching lip said contradicted his words." I imagine you must be hungry. It's almost time for Supper." he took the clothes that he had behind his back and handed them to her then motioned with his hands at the room she had slept in."I will escort you to the dining hall."
When Ronove closed the door behind she locked it, making sure he wouldn't peek. She was still blushing from what he had said(or lied about) earlier. The clothes he gave to her were expensive designer jeans and a black sweater with a peculiar emblem on the breast. She slipped them on enjoying the soft woolen fabric and the snug fit that suggested they had been tailored for her.
Ronove was waiting outside the door and walked silently and gracefully to the dining hall. It was a short way from the corridor unfotunately. Sai had wanted to see any other peices of art lay around the house. But when she got there whatever she didn't get to see was made up for. The room was huge wath equally large windows on the oppsite side. the ceiling was vaulted and high with six crystal chandeliers hanging randomly around the place. There were three long tables that were the length of the room with red velvet tablecloths and creme colored runners draping them. Each table had a unique center-peice of arranged flowers and they held esquisite banquets with china plates and sparkling silverware.
Seeing the food exited Sai's hunger and her stomach growled. Ronove gave her a sincere smile."Sit by me." he said. It was his charm that got to her but she told herself she did it because it would be rude to refuse. " Sure."
They sat down at a random seat across from each other. She chose a plate and grabbed the nearest food: cake. " Why have such a big dining hall when no one is in it." she asked after her first peice of cake. She grabbed a croissant and discovered it was stuffed with creamy spinach dip.
"We entertained a crowd in here a half an hour ago. You weren't awake then." he stared a her plate."Don't stuff yourself with unhealthy foods, Sai. We need you to be fit." Sai froze. She decided she'd ignore the rude comment."Fit for what?" she asked curiously." You dont know ?!" he echoed Semei's words but with a more accusing tone." How do you not know?" this irritated Sai. " Well who was supposed to tell me?" she retorted."Your mother, of couse." he said it like the answer was so obvious. At the word mother, she scowled." She didn't tell me, okay."This guy was hitting a lot of her nerves."So you don't know you're supposed to guard Master Semei for your ten year term?" Sai dropped her fork. Were they kidding her? Why had mother never told her about it?
"Why were you picked to guard Semei anyway? Your not a shape-shifter obviously. What are you?" he changed the subject so abruptly. Sobering from her shock Sai decided he would learn the hard way about her power because of how rude he was.She grabbed a knife and a napkin and promptly slit her wrist.
Okay so that concludes the first chapter. I REALLY hate the part when she describes the 'lavish decor'. If I don't everybody will be like" you didn't even give us a glimpse of the scenery" or " You can't just say the house was expensive and had victorian architecture in it. Truthfully, it irks the hell outta me to write and it bores me to read it. I'm on the second chapter now and I'm starting to switch from 3rd person to 1st person. That also annoys meh.<(>.< wink >
I did this on this on my comp journal which has no spell check or anything but when I pasted it on here, it had no mistakes! I'm so proud of mehself rofl
