Okay, this one isn't a poem, but a short story. I wrote it yesterday morning before school
The Abandoned Mansion
Girl’s Name is Yuma Saito Story By: Geckosrock99 Grade: Senior
Yuma Saito was just your typical sixteen-year-old girl with typical teenage girl problems. She had a few friends and had a crush and they hung out with her everyday. One day, on Halloween, they went out near the graveyard and stayed there until late into the night. Yuma was dared to stay the rest of the night in an old abandoned mansion that they noticed on top of a large hill. Now, the mansion was in poor condition because no one lived in it for the past fifty years. Since the last owner died, the town’s people turned the rest of the yard into a graveyard. Yuma was told if she stayed until dawn inside that mansion, her friends would pay for her prom ticket. Though she didn’t want to stay inside the mansion, since it was rumored to have been haunted, she really wanted the prom ticket. Before entering, one of her friends gave her a camera so that she could take photographic proof that ghosts did inhabit that mansion. “One of you has to come with me though…” Yuma said, her voice shaking. Her crush stepped forward and reassured her, “Okay, I’ll go with you.” Her crush’s name was Sosuke and he was on the tennis team. Sosuke held onto her hand as they walked up to the haunted mansion, causing Yuma to blush. Does he know how much I love him? Is that why he volunteered to come with me? She thought, keeping her eyes on him instead of where she was going. She tripped over a tree root and hit the ground before Sosuke even had time to react. “Are you okay, Yuma?” He asked, trying hard not to laugh, as he helped her to her feet. They were almost out of view of the others, but Sosuke and Yuma could hear laughter from the bottom of the hill. They just ignored it and got to the front door. Instinctively, she knocked on the door, though no one was living there, it opened. Sosuke entered, looking behind the door and around it, trying to find out who let them in. He found no one and motioned her that it was okay to enter. On shaking legs, she followed her crush with the camera around her neck. The only problem was, when she turned the same corner that he did, he wasn’t there at all. She was positive that he went that direction and wished they brought flash lights or at least lanterns. She was about to take a step forward, when a ghost girl floated through the floor in front of her and let out a blood curdling scream, making Yuma jump and run the opposite direction. She was too scared to let out a scream of her own and tried to find her way back to the front door to get out. She found where she and her crush entered, and found another problem: the door and all the windows were locked. She franticly started looking for a way out, and when she whirled around to search a different area, the same ghost girl was there. She had followed Yuma and was close enough to get details on her: a missing eye, cuts all over her body, but other than that looked perfectly human, except the fact that she was transparent. “Who-who are you?” Yuma managed to ask though her voice was a little shaky. The ghost girl had a creepy voice, answering “It’s rude to ask one’s name without first giving your own, little girl.” Though the ghost girl looked like she was only ten, who knows how long she was dead, wandering around the mansion. “O-okay th-then… Yuma… My name is Yuma. What do I call you?” She asked, calming down a little when she found out that the ghost can answer her. The ghost girl let out a chuckle when she heard Yuma ask what to call her and just said, “Just call me Yuurei, that’s what the others call me anyways.” She floated back, down the hall. Yuma knew it was a bad idea, but she followed Yuurei. What she found at the end of the hall made her scream loudly. It was Sosuke and he was in pieces. Blood was everywhere and Yuurei laughing evilly while Yuma broke down. She fell to her knees and she couldn’t take her eyes off of her crush’s body. “Why? Why? WHY?” Yuma’s voice was quiet at first and gradually got louder until she screamed the last word. Though Yuurei knew it was rhetorical, she answered “Because you two trespassed on our home. That’s why he’s dead.” She laughed an evil hysterical laugh as her fellow ghosts floated to her and Yuma had the think fast. She pointed her camera at the ghosts and tried to take their picture. The button wasn’t working and she suffered greatly when the ghosts attacked her. Claw marks, bites and bruises covered her body, but the ghosts let her bleed to death instead of killing her instantly. Her friends at the bottom of the hill had no idea what was going on inside, and waited until dawn before checking out the mansion. They screamed when they found Sosuke and Yuma dead in the hall and tried the get them out of the creepy mansion. They found though, that even though it was morning, they could not escape. No one who enters that building exits alive.
