The ship was huge, it appeared to take up the whole bay, not a single ship was near it. I looked up at the shiny black vessel that was to be my home for the next few weeks. It was almost like a black hole. threatening to swallow me whole. In truth, being on a boat that big scared me half to death. I didn't know however, what I really should have been fearing. How maybe if I saw how tragic things would turn out in the end, I'd put down my suitcase and run far away from the nightmarish ship. A cold breeze blows from the surface of the water, the water is shiny and dark, almost as black as the ship. It was almost as if the inky color of the ship had bled into the water and poisoned it. A shudder ripples through my shoulders and I realize how cold it actually is out here, even though the dock is crowded with people. So many smiling, crying, yelling, spitting, shy faces that I feel as if I'm drowning in them. I'd have to admit i was scared at this moment, leaving behind almost everything I knew. I wouldn't have gone normally, but things where bad here, Gang wars and drug dealers were literally tearing apart the once peaceful city. but now, its starting to force people put of their lives, homes. So here I stand, on the dock hesitating to enter the ship, knowing that once I get on, i'll never be able to come back. A shiny tear slides down my cheek and I just want to sob, lay on that dock and cry my eyes out. Suddenly a warm hand is on my shoulder and I turn around to see my best friend standing behind me. Concern covers his face. "Ada, You alright?" My lip trembles as I struggle to compose myself. I just nod my head and responds to him, trying to strengthen my voice. Get my vocal cords to be stronger than I was. "I'm okay John..Just feeling the homesickness before hand.." I swallow a hard breath and begin to walk up the dock, John at my side. My legs feel like Jello, like i'm just going to fall over and pass out. Some how though I manage to keep walking. "Well, I'm sure where ever we wind up..It will be better than this place. "He adds and I realize that he never took his hand off my shoulder. Some how that encourages me to to keep walking and within moments, we're in the ships main entrance. This wasn't a normal ship, it was meant to resemble a hotel, with an entrance foyer and everything. One look at that lavish foyer and I slowly calm down. It wasn't so black and dark in here... A oak reception desk sits in the middle of a large room with a emerald plushy carpet. I walk over with my friend at my side. The small woman behind the desk with brilliant blue eyes and copper hair hands me a key, never actually asking my name just telling me to sign a slip of paper and leave my luggage. John fills out the same paper, even though we're staying in the same room. While hes filling out his form I walk to the glassy doors behind the desk and look out. What I see completely makes my jaw drop. There are streets... or what appears to be streets running on the first floor of the ship. Greenery and trees grow along the road and small doors lead to rooms. Now I felt darkness closing in on me. The shock of seeing the roads and trees, in a vessel that travels over water was too much. My legs give into the darkness and I pass out.
