The Angel's Fire
Chapter 10
"I have to find Angel!" I whispered as I forced my body to start working again. "He needs to know what just happened..."
Looking around, I knew there something out of place. I was hoping to see Angel sitting right where I left him, but instead all I saw was an empty boulder, clear, starry sky and dark fields.
I havn't known Angel for very long, but I didn't think he;d be the type to abandon a boy after sending him into HELL!
"He has to be around here somewhere." I thought.
I went a little further, searching for any sign that he's been there. A flutter of wing, a white plume, anything. But I found nothing.
"Angel!!" I called.
Still nothing.
Sighing deeply, I decided to find Angel later and focus on getting home.
As I was walking, it made me relize just how much gravity there was in Hell, when even here on Earth, I felt like I was floating.
I could'nt wait to tell my mom what I've seen, but then again, I'm partially terrified.
My stomach lurched as I came across to the front porch.
As if there was an alarm or sensory device, my mother slammed the front door open.
"Purge?! Where have you been?!" she snapped, glaring down at me like a vulture.
"I'll explain everything in a few. Where's dad?"
"No! You'll explain NOW!" she was practically yelling.
"Dawn..."
It was my father, walking in behind her with a scared, sullen look on his face. He looked at my mother, touched her shoulder to calm her and walked over to me.
"There better be a good explanation to where you've been boy. We JUST lost your sister, and NOW you go an run off and worry me and your mother like this?! What is going on with you lately, Purge?"
"It's hard to explain!"
"Well get to explaining, we have all night." my mom said slowly.
I was silent for a moment, thinking of my options.
"You wont believe me.."
"Purge, just tell us." said my dad this time.
I sighed deeply.
"I was in Hell."
I glanced up to see that both my parents had a very solid face, as if they thought I was crazy.
"You went to....Hell?" she repeated.
I nodded.
"You don't believe me....do you?" I asked.
"Oh I believe you.... What the bloody hell where you thinking?! HELL?! What where you doing down there?! How did you even GET down there?!" My mother yelled.
"Dawn, calm down." My father said, but looked at me very seriously.
"Tell us what happened Purge. EVERYTHING!"
"ok.. I went to Hell because I needed to figure things out. All those storied I heard from you, all those memories, I HAD to see for myself! I went down there, and I met Damu, and-"
"You met DAMU?!" my mother growled at me.
"Dawn, please! Calm down before you hurt yourself!" my father snapped, then looked back at me.
After a few moments, waiting for my mom to cool, I continued.
"I wanted to know if there was any way we could save Damu again."
"Well there isn't Purge, Damu is dead. He is not only dead, but he is the King of the Dead. There is no way we can save him now. And besides, barely anyone who has been brought to Hell has ever been brought back." my mother whispered, clearly out of energy from yelling.
"But there HAS to be! There HAS to be a way! Black arts! Sorcery! SOMETHING!"
"Purge thats enough." my father whispered, and was obviously in deep thought. "How did you get down there, anyway?"
"An angel. He told me to call him that, his name was Angelus, so it made sense I guess."
"Angel...." he whispered to himself. "Ok. Purge, just go to your room."
"I saw Donna." I blurted.
At that, my parents froze and turned back to me.
"What?"
"I saw Donna down there mom."
"Donna....my baby girl is in....Hell?!" my mother gasped.
"There just HAS to be a way to save HER! And if there is, maybe it can save Damu too!" I said.
My mother looked at my dad. He looked back down at her.
"Maybe Angelus will know something." he whispered, and looked back at me.
"Where is he?"
"I don't know, when I got back, he was gone."
"Alright.. Dawn, you stay here. Do as much research as you can on this. Purge and I will go look for Angel."
My mother nodded, tears in her eyes. My father hugged her.
"We'll get her back love. I promise.."
He kissed her once, quickly, and turned to me.
"Show me where you last saw him."
----------------------
"You go down into the fields and caves, I'll search the forest." I said.
"Alright, but be careful Purge. If you see ANYTHING suspiscious, just go home. Don't come back for me, alright?"
I just nodded and went off in my direction.
The forest was as silent as I was trying to be.
Only a few sounds of bickering animals, the wind rustling through the trees, and .......something else.
It was a muffled scream! I know it was!
Something in my heart was telling me to walk away, but I guess my body wasn't listening, because I wa soon following the sounds of the screams.
"You gonna tell us NOW?" someone snapped, followed by the harsh sound of a blow.
"Never..."
I knew that voice... Angel!
Peakign over the boulder, I saw them. There were two of them. Tall people, one holding Angel back while another was torturing him. Looked like a woman.
"We can do this the easy way Angelus, all you have to do is tell us. Where is the boy?" she asked.
"I'm not telling you, or ANY of you!" Angel snapped and earned another blow to the face.
After about a minute of watching this, I couldn't hold myself back.
"Leave him alone!" I screamed and ran at her, fist pulled back.
I was about to swing it into a punch at her, when she turned to look at me. I froze.
Her eyes were silver and red....her hair was dark and messy and her face, held tribal tattoos that of which I have never seen before.
And at the sight of her hand, I knew. Those were not nails, but talons!
"A demon...sh**!"
"Purge, No!!"
I ducked under the first swipe of her hand, and turned to run, but I suddenly just stopped.
I don't know what happened, and I couldn't feel anything, all I knew was as I looked down, there was a hand sticking out of my chest, grasping one of my lungs.
I gasped for breath, and watched as the blood pooled out of me as she removed her arm.
The last thing I saw, were the demons, standing over me, and then all was black.
-------------
"Jeraha... release him. The boy will be dead."
Jeraha threw Angel to the ground.
"Shall I take him with us, Makali?" Jeraha asked standing over the boy's body.
"No. Lord Sin only wanted him dead, not brought as a souveneir. Leave him to rot... As for YOU!"
Makali walked over to Angel and kicked him onto his stomach to reveal his wing slits.
She stabbed her hand into one and pulled out one of his wings.
Angel screamed in horror.
"Let's go."
Jeraha and Makali flew off.
Angel tried to ignore the painful throbbing in his back, and focused on Purge.
"I have to save him...."
Removing his dagger, he sliced into his own chest.
Quickly, he cut his own lung out and transplanted it into Purge's chest.
"Please work..."
With the strength he had left, he used to heal Purge.
With his last breathe, he looked up at the night sky..
"Almighty One.....help me...."
And the last thing he was before blacking out, was Prise running towards them.
(Will they both survive? Find out in chapter 11!)
