Chapter 2 “Yes, she has.” The man named Garth said almost a whisper. He pulled his hand away from the knocked out Jacxie’s nose her breathing soon settling. A small moan escaped her lips; her blood racing in her injured wrist, the sound pulsed in the ears of the two men. Garth stood, he looked at the man in the doorway. “Do you think it’s really her though Anviar, the same Jacxie?” He asked his voice was deep a hint of an old accent within it, the light from the bared window putting light on only half of his face. His skin was marble white in the light; his eye the color of an oil slick, hair of the same color surrounded his handsome head except for the small splash of ivy green in the front. The man in the doorway stepped into the light, revealing the man with the raven eyes. His black eyes laid coolly on Jacxie her hair falling around her face like a gorgeous red halo. “Well Garth if she isn’t, it’s a huge coincidence that she has the exact same pieces of jewelry as our Jacxie.” Anviar smirked mischievously his eyes now on Garth. Garth glared at this comment. “Touchy.” Anviar whispered his eyes traveled down again to Jacxie. “Let me see her Garth.” Anviar demanded his face a emotionless stone, smile wiped away. Garth thought a moment then after a moment nodded and stepped back and leaned against the wall his dark eyes landing on the couple. Anviar was next to Jacxie in a second kneeling down next to her and looked at her, gently moving some of her hair away from her cheek. Smiling smugly as he spotted the Victorian necklace around her neck “Did you taste her yet?” He asked eyes never leaving the woman’s face. “No, you know I wouldn’t, not to her.” Garth muttered a hint of pain in his face. Anviar gently scooped up Jacxie and laid her on top of the tomb. “She’s so light.” He muttered Jacxie stirred slightly but didn’t wake Anviar gently picked up Jacxie’s hand. The collision with the marble had caused multiple breaks in the bones; one of the larger bones had broken through the skin of her small palm, which bleeds lightly. The air was filled with the sweet smell. Anviar closed his hands around the hand, a glow of white shinned through his fingers. Pulling away a hand he took a look at Jacxie’s hand again. It was healed, but still tender and bruised. Anviar laid her hand gently on her stomach and stepped back turning to look at Garth. “So you don’t want her to be a Death Kisser?” His face was stone and unreadable. Garth looked at the other man from the corner of his eyes they seem to have changed at the mention of the strange name. “I could ask you the same thing Blood Knight.” Anviar smirked at the title his canine poking out of this mouth, a vampire fang. “Only if she wants it, which is if she remembers me.” “But I have no doubt she did always like me the best.” Anviar turned toward Garth his movements cat-like, smiling wider. Garth’s eyes narrowed, “Where did you get that idea?” Anviar shrugged. “She kissed me the day after you left.” “Her first kiss.” Anviar eyes filled with a remembered pleasure. Garth moved away from the wall his eyes seemed to have gone a metallic silver and lunged at Anviar, whose eyes seem to have also changed turning a disturbing red all traces of pleasure gone. Anviar dodged out of the way with unheard of speed, as Garth shot past turning his body in a back flip in time the land on the wall. “This isn’t a place to fight, follow me.” Anviar ran out of the mausoleum and into the graveyard turning in time to dodge a punch from Garth sparks of hate emanating from his knuckles. Anviar jumped back flipping over Garth and swung his leg kicking hard at Garth’s back and sending Garth forward to the ground Garth caught himself on his hands and tumbled out of the way as the ground broke a deep impact of his hands The air was filled with thick clouds of dirt. Through it Garth stood and came at Anviar again from his fist sparks of green electricity shot out in random directions his eyes revealing his strong intention to kill. Anvair quickly side stepped avoiding Garth’s punch, it broke a head stone of a large stone angel, Garth jumped back as the statue began to fall down to the ground. He spun around swinging one of the large stone wings at Anvair. Anvair quickly crossed his arms to block the stone, from the momentum the man was heralded back towards one of the gravestones. Once his back made contact with the marble there was a huge cracking sound both from the marble breaking. Garth jumped at Anviar while Anviar was still down. Garth forced another electric fist down into Anvair's face making a small crater in the ground as Anviar’s head slammed into the ground. Garth waited as the dirt and rock cleared from the air around them un aware of Anviar’s hands were holding his fist inches from his face Anviar quickly brought his legs up and kicked them against Garths chest and with absolute force he kicked Garth up 10 feet into the air. Anviar stood up in a blur of motion and as Garth came down the tall figure swung his leg hitting Garth’s stomach throwing him towards another mausoleum. Garth crashed through the small building, smashing through the back wall hitting the ground. *** Garth struggled to get up but Anviar was too quick for him and raced at Garth and jumped at him bringing his foot down on Garth’s chest, Garth’s a resounding crack that broke through the air louder then the stone building smashed as it came down in heaps. Anviar stood over his defeated friend; Garth opened his eyes slight groaning at the dull throbbing pain that corset through him, looking up at Anviar. Anviar bent in almost bow and in a voice, almost sad voice that was barely a whisper and said “Blood Knights one.” And Garth closed his eyes and faded out into the darkness of inconsonance. Anviar walked into the tomb staring a moment at Jacxie as she laid on the cold stone, he wondered how she could have slept through all that noise, then with a smirk he remembered she was like rock when she slept. He walked over to her and gently picked her up into his arms surprised again at how light she was. He walked out with her into the night, smiling as she inconsonantly snuggled her head up against his neck. He began to remember the last few days he had spent with Garth and her. *** “Garth where are we going?” Jacxie asked she was thin almost stick like with longer hair reaching her waist, her eyes blindfolded. “Relax” “We’re almost there.” Garth stated an English accent. Jacxie was in tan shorts, dark green thin strap tank top, and black hiking boots. Young Garth was dressed in a similar outfit, holding her hand leading her swiftly through thick trees and bushes. “If this is a trick Garth, I’ll kick your a**!” Jacxie muttered darkly, Garth laughed helping her over a small stream. “Sure Jacxie like I would bring you out here to leave you alone.” He laughed again it was thick like his accent, Jacxie stopped in her tracks stumbling a bit, Garth turned and looked at her and smiled stepping closer to her. “I would never leave you in the woods alone Jacxie you know that.” He cupped the side of her head in his hand gently pushing a bit of her hair out of her blindfolded face, his smile softened as he stared at her. Jacxie smiled nervously, “I know, but you know me, I’m more the indoors type.” “Sitting on your comfy feathery bed, customizing your laptop.” Garth finished for her smirking tugging her hand and began leading her again through the woods. The two teens turned to the left when they come to a huge oak trunk that had been tipped over. As the two kept going a sound of thunder became clear. “Garth,” Jacxie asked, “What’s that sound?” Garth replied. “You’ll see.” After fifteen minutes of more hiking the two came to small a lake, the shore covered in snow white sands, the water of the lake a light blue and clear. On the far end of the lake was a grand waterfall that thundered loudly against large stones. “Be careful Jacxie the ground is very louse, here I’ll hold on to you.” Garth griped Jacxie’s small waist Jacxie’s face reddened as he softly squeezed her against him. He led her over to a spot above the sand where a small tent was set up alongside a large fire pit. Another boy was standing there, his hair was like Jacxie’s, his eyes were the brightest green, he was pale like Jacxie, he also wore hiking clothes. His face was sort of grim at the site of Garth’s hand on Jacxie’s waist. “Finally took you two long enough, hey Jacxie.” Jacxie stopped dead mouth halfway open in surprise. “Anviar, is that you?” “I thought you were working in the shop today?” The boys laughed, and Anviar said. “You think I would work on a day like this, go ahead Garth its time to show her surprise.” Garth nodded smiling and turned and untied the blindfold and removed it from Jacxie’s eyes. Jackie’s mouth fell open in amazement as she looked all around her, a smile that reached her eyes playing across her face. *** When she finally turned back to the guys, they were standing side by side each holding a red wild flower “HAPPY BRITHDAY JACXIE!” Both boys sang out as they handed her the wild flowers, Jacxie looked on the brink of tears and the boys hugged her tight. “You two are the best!” She said hugging them back, kissing their cheeks. “One flower from each of us.” Anviar stated a blush rising on his smug face. Jacxie smiled. “I wondered where you two were yesterday; well I guess I know now.” Garth nodded his blush was lighter than Anviar’s. “Yep, It took forever to get everything we need out here, I’m surprise you didn’t hear our arguing outside your house.” Garth started. “Over who would get the great pleasure of bringing you here.” Anviar finished wrapping the flowers in the blindfold making it into a bouquet, Jacxie smiled a blush running across her face this is something Garth didn’t miss. “And guess what Anviar talk his mom into making your favorite food.” Jacxie made a face that clearly showed pleasure she swayed. “Yes, Anviar you mom makes the best food in the whole town.” Anviar looked over at the lake his smile suddenly became mischievous and he looked over to Garth, he saw the smile. “Uh Jacxie I think you better run.” Jacxie looked up at Anviar her eyes widening placing the flowers down carefully on the table she began to run. Anviar followed. In less than a minute Anviar had grabbed Jacxie and with her screaming threw her into the water. “Anviar!” “I’m so going to kick your a**.” Jacxie screamed splashing water at him. Anvair stuck out his tongue at her and then he felt a tap on his shoulder. “Oh, Anviar.” Garth sang out from behind. Anviar turned quickly turned and Garth tackled him into the water on top of Jacxie. The teens laugh splashing and wrestling each other in the cool water. As the sun got lower Jacxie, Anviar and Garth got out and had changed into dry clothes. “So what we got to eat?” Jacxie asked she looked at the boys who were talking in low voices by the fire pit. She figured they were discussing how to start the fire do she sighed and turned back to the basket of food and opened it and finding a container labeled with her name full of warm, fresh, white rice and spicy pepperoni. “Goodie, my favorite.” She picked up the container and a Coca-Cola and walked over to the fire pit and sat next to the guys who had finally got the fire going. “You guys better get something to eat.” Jacxie opened the warm container picking out the spoon and began to eat, after a couple minutes she noticed the guy were staring at her. “What?” She asked. “Is there something wrong?” She touched her face wondering if she had gotten the sticky rice on her cheeks. “No.” “It’s nothing.” Anviar said looking away bushing, Jacxie looked toward Garth but his head was down eyes hidden. Jacxie was getting worried, her two friends never acted like this unless they were hiding something from her. “Ok what is going on with you two, I can tell something’s wrong.” Garth and Anviar looked at each other than at Jacxie, the look on their faces made her remember. “Oh.” “That’s right, you are both moving away right after tomorrow.” Her face grew sad as she looked at the fire, the flames reflecting in her dark sapphire eyes. “It’s not forever you know Jacxie.” Garth started. “Yea Jacxie we’ll see each other again.” Anviar finished, Jacxie looked up at the dark star filled sky’s she was again on the brink of tears but she hid them from the boys. “Yea, I know.” She said quietly. “It’s just going to be hard starting high school without you guys.” Silent understanding passed through the trio. “It will be hard for all of us, but Jacxie we will keep in touch, and as soon as we get our licenses’ we will meet up somewhere for spring break.” Anviar smiled gently his voice comforting. Jacxie nodded, slowly Garth raised up from his set Anviar doing the same “Be right back, ok?” Garth murmured at Jacxie giving her shoulder a small squeeze before both of them climbed into the tent. A minute later the two young men came back, backing out of the tent one small box wrapped in red wrappings in their pale hands they sat down on either side of Jacxie holding out their packages toward her. “More presents?” She asked taking the gifts, Anviar nodded. “To remember us by, to keep you going when times are tough.” Garth said as Jacxie opened the smallest of the packages, Jacxie gasped as she pulled out a dark blue gemmed bracelet, silver trim curved around each of the small gems that glittered beautifully in the fire light “Who?” She asked looking up from the bracelet eyes flitting back and forth between Garth and Anviar. “Me.” Garth said as he kissed her cheek Jacxie blushed slightly as he slid the bracelet onto her tiny wrist. Then she picked up the other gift. “So this one’s from you Anviar?” She asked opening it Anviar nodded. “Oh my god, Anviar it’s beautiful.” Jacxie said as she picked up a necklace, in the middle laid a black sapphire, a Victorian styled heart surrounded the gem in polished silver trimmings. “Help me put it on Anviar?” She handed Anviar the necklace, Jacxie pulled her hair away from her neck and he put it nervously on sneaking a kiss on her cheek while he did so. Jacxie hug her friends tight. “You two are the bests and only friends I’ve ever had, the only friends that I’ll forever keep with me.” Anviar and Garth hugged her back; she looked small in the arms of her friends. “Let’s make a promise, that’ll we will meet each other again, oh 10 years from now and come back here.” Garth stated a smile playing across his lips. “Yea, so how should we do it?” “Pinky or blood?” Jacxie asked looking up at the boys looking completely hyped. Anviar pretended to think about it making Jacxie laugh. “Blood.” Anviar said the other two nodded. “But one of us would to have to cut both hands.” Jacxie put in, she sighed. “I’ll be that one I guess.” Jacxie whispered, Anviar sighed. “Forget it we are doing a pinky promise, we won’t have you cut your hands open just to make a promise Jacxie.” “That’s right.” Garth put in before Jacxie could argue. “And beside it’d be kind emo.” Anviar teased, but the grim look on his face made it clear he didn’t like the idea. “Fine pinky.” Jacxie mumbled crossing her arms tightly. “Put out both your pinkies Jacxie.” Garth told her, she put out both her pinkies to the boys and they wrapped theirs around hers. “Go ahead Jacxie.” Anviar said. Jacxie nodded “We promise to meet again years from now and come back to this place no matter what, agreed?” “Agreed.” Garth stated. “Agreed.” Anviar nodded. “Well if you two aren’t going to stuff yourself with food, it’s off to bed.” Jacxie smiled as she got up and crawled into the tent the boys crawling in behind her.
