A solemn flag waves alone above the funerary. The rain and wind are cold, maybe to signify this event. A sound takes the air, the sound of thousands crying Johnny’s name, asking "Why did this happen?", but more often "How?" It is a strange thing when a man as mighty as Johnny K. Gambino had been killed so easily. Everyone expected his return, some more than others, just like the last time...but they knew, impossible revival, beyond all means, would not come.
Along with the procession of bodies and voices, Gino walked with Edmund, slowly, for he, most of all, could not believe his father's death. But it was not sorrow that took Gino, but hatred and anger, it burned his mind and he began to despise everyone, though only in his mind. No sooner than Gino had entered the chapel and set eyes on the coffin that he began to cry, "NO! FATHER!", Gino ran directly towards the coffin and threw himself on the pulpit, "YOU CANT BE GONE!" All in the room looked away, this sight was to pity, a son on his father's grave couldn’t have been any worse without the screaming. "Gino...Gino....GINO! Be calm, please, I pray you, not in your father's funeral!" said Edmund softly, "This will not help his fleeting image!"
Gino leapt to his feet wearing a scowl on his face, something not many before had ever seen, especially one of this horrid magnitude. He opened his mouth wide, and his brow dropped lower, something deemed impossible, and shrieked, "NO, THIS IS NOT A FUNERAL! THAT IS NOT MY FATHER! MY FATHER IS FAR AWAY FROM HERE PLANNING HIS COMEBACK!"
All in the room immediately began their whispers, some began to scream in cheer, but some, as shadowy as they could be, who had not been invited, stood up and left.
"NO GINO." answered Edmund, "He is not coming back...I...I am so sorr-"
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I DONT WANT TO HEAR YOU ANYMORE!" Gino pushed Edmund away and ran for the chapel door. "YOU ALL WILL SEE! HE WILL BE BACK! JUST YOU WAIT!"
Gino ran and ran until he had nothing left before he came to a halt... He was breathing heavily leaning on his knees for balance, and then hit the floor with a groan. He was in the beach about 2 miles away from the funerary. Through weeping, blurry eyes, he looked at his hands and remembered how his father's hands were larger and more commanding, strong... all that Gino wasn’t. He looked to the coast, finding solace in the waves, like waves he had met before. He stood up, tired and unmoving, somehow still heated. He walked upon the shore, and the waves washed his ankles. He looked to the horizon, and thought how another dawn without his father would be unbearable. His father truly loved him, as Edmund had said; those were his father’s last words.
Gino ran into the water, and began to swim, he thought that if he swam far enough, he would be too tired to swim back or fight the waves, and no one could ever find him again or rescue him. To him this was the last answer, a perfect end to a useless life; this way there would be no more Gambinos and the world could finally be at peace. This, it seemed to Gino, was the ultimate truth… the world didn’t want the Gambinos (hence the assassination attempts), so he would, willingly, strike its last living member from the face of Gaia, below the waves that would consume his body.
Gino swam for what seemed an eternity, and in his final stroke, decided by his fleeting strength, he screamed “ I, GINO GAMBINO, FORFEIT MY LIFE!”, fear overtook him but his plan had worked, he could not fight back, and roared as he began to sink below the waves.
The obsidian waves washed over him, his golden hair swished and danced about him, his own life seemed so small to him, yet was filled with incomprehensible events that changed the fabric of all that was Gaia. What seemed like such a small decision, altered the course of reality and ultimately the course of everyone’s lives.
Meanwhile, somewhere far away, Xion was preparing Gino a bubble bath.
