I couldn't resist her charms, she was just so...I can't even find the word. In a group of Colonial men she lingered, covered from head to foot in soot and dirt from the building that recently collapsed near us. We had saved her...and she had thanked us kindly with showers of kisses, winks and hugs. Being buried under 30 pounds of rubble, you think she'd have broken something, but she was fine.
Perfectly fine.
My friends joked and teased me, saying I was a love-sick puppy, but no way could they deny that they were the same. Everything about her just grabbed every man's attention. Her cascade of golden locks that were dulled by dust, her laugh that rang like beautiful bells, and her smile...oh her smile! Like a ray of sunshine on a rainy day!
But alas, when I tried to speak with her, my words came out slurred and sputtered, my face would heat up, and eventually I'd freeze up. She'd giggle though, that sweet sound that made my lips curl into a smile, and then turn her attention back to the other men who flocked around her. But I'd always remember that look she gave me before she turned...the smile that formed similar to mine, the shine in her eyes that sparked intrest, and that small tint of pink that blossomed on her cheeks.
The look of liking had showed.
