I have a feeling that some people may not understand why Troy's childhood theme fits him, and so here you go:

( Troy is pretty much blaming himself for being sold into slavery, because he doesn't remember the reason or what exactly happened. He was very young. )

We like to watch you laughing.
You pick the insects off plants.
No time to think of consequences.

( Troy never had the time to do things a normal child would do. The last line is true because his master would punish him if he goofed off or anything )

( He needs to control his emotions/temper, and the family of trees is saying that the slight memories of his family haunts him in a way. )

crying out for attention.
Memories fade,
like looking through a fogged mirror
Decisions to decisions are made and not fought
But I thought,
this wouldn't hurt a lot.
I guess not.

( Troy only remember slight parts of his family, but his memory is very fuzzy. He makes decisions during his life, but doesn't fight or show emotion when he does. He didn't imagine slavery so cruel. )
