Looking at colleges. It's sort of tough; the two I'm applying to this year are Cal Poly and MIT, and the two applications couldn't be more different. Cal Poly's app is standardized for California and there's not even an essay to write; MIT's app doesn't have a single essay, but a ton of short-answer questions.
Mom and I flew down to California to visit Cal Poly this weekend (it's now Monday and I'm now missing Japanese but oh well, it's worth it). I love the campus; it's not all that woah-huge-big, although it's still impressive compared to the BCC campus (hah next quarter I'm gonna be hoofing it from one end of the campus to the other, between the arts/languages division and the computer lab). There's even an arcade and a bowling alley! ^_^ And even though I looked at the website and it didn't seem like they had a international program to Japan, it's included on a board that I found that had pictures of places that students had done international study at, and it was there.
But then I was looking at MIT and apparently they have an amazing international program there, including to Japan! Doing an internship in Japan would be so much fun :3 So I super have to get the application finished soon! Hurry up, me! ;<
ETA: Haha, so one of my sort of requisites (well not that but wishes I guess) for whatever university I do go to, is that it has a study abroad program in Japan. Well, Cal Poly has a lot of abroad stuff, including study in Japan, EXCEPT none of it's submersion. Yes, they have lots of different universities to visit, but at each and every one, all of the classes are taught in English except for the Japanese language classes. That's major disappointing. So my new plan of action is that, whether I go to Cal Poly or MIT or anything different, I really want to go to MIT for my graduate work and do the long internship abroad they've got there. Yay! Maturity!
