Natsumi was raised in an orphanage. She has no recollection of her parents. It was the year 1951. She was found on the doorstep of the orphanage with only a heart shaped pendant on a silver chain around her neck, and a small slip of paper saying Natsumi's name on it. Her hair and eyes were red. The fact that she wasn't normal, was noticed immediately. The Headmistress brought her inside that night and to her office, placing the blanket wrapped Natsumi on her desk. When she pulled the records out to put Natsumi on file, she saw Natsumi's pendant begin to glow. Natsumi transformed into a cat right before her eyes. It shocked the Headmistress greatly, however she had a creedo to uphold at the orphange "No child shall be turned away, no matter how different they may be". Natsumi was taken to the room for children 0-5. It didn't take long for others to find out about her secret power, and they accepted it. Natsumi was a happy child and free spirited. At age 6 she was taken to stay in the room where the rest of the children stayed. They ranged in age from 6-17. At age 15, Natsumi stopped growing. Years would go by, but her appearance stayed the same. It was believe to be due to her power.
Unfortunately, Natsumi was never adopted. She left the orphanage at 18, found work at a local store and stayed in a room above the store. After several years of working, she grew tired of it. She slipped an envelope, that contained a letter that stated she was leaving, along with the month's rent, under the shop owner's door and she left. She decided to try living as an animal. It was something she'd wanted to do back in the orphanage but was never allowed. She lived for many years, changing between different animals every so often. As an animal she learned many survival techniques and how to defend herself from other creatures and humans who would hunt her. The years went by and she lost track of them.
