Heaven has been found! Or at least, as close as it can get in New Jersey, when you're interested in the Japanese culture and stuff. XD Here it is....Mitsuwa Marketplace! It's in Edgewater, New Jersey. It's a Japanese complex with a beauty salon, dental office, Shiseido store, Japanese video rental, vitamins and medicine from Japan, a bookstore, tableware store, auto accessories shop, travel agency, toy, accessories, furniture, appliances, and the list goes on. They also have an annual food fair on June 13th and some other festivals/events just like the ones that Japanese celebrate too. Though, finding parking is crazy to secure at noon time. They do have a shuttle bus from Port Authority for $3.00 or so, makes it pretty convenient to get here from NY city (see website for details.).
Overall, it seems that Mitsuwa is a good place to go to when you want to find something you can't find at anime conventions, like a Japanese tea set, or taste real ramen or try green tea ice cream. But I'm mostly interested in checking out the bookstore and the toy store just to see the items they have. *makes a cat face* You know.....like check out mangas I want, some dvds, and some anime things. I've also heard that the prices may be a bit high (when shopping in the market section) but they have a great selection of food and groceries. Their food court is reasonably priced for a lunch with good portions though. Here's a Tip: Avoid the weekdays if you want free samples. Avoid the weekends if you hate crowds.
