Life
By Kaylee
I can feel this in the air,
tension building while we stare.
Listening to the screaming silence,
if this doesn’t end soon there maybe violence.
Smiling and laughing,
As if nothing could go wrong.
Who knew we’d have to wait this long?
Burnt inside, charred to a crisp,
Why did Life have to end like this?
I’m hurt so deeply, almost petrified.
And you can’t even figure out why.
I let myself fall for something that wasn’t real.
You can’t imagine how stupid I feel.
I walk in the room and what do I see?
A couple giggling and laughing at me.
She talks about what a loser I am,
You join in and say how I look like a lost lamb.
As if you can’t see me, as if I’m a ghost.
But I couldn’t move I was totally engrossed.
I watched as your faces filled with fright,
The expression was totally contrite.
I felt the blood as it trickled down my arm,
I started laughing which increased your alarm.
You started talking, but the words blurred.
You ask me, “What the hell did you do?”
I answer, “I did what I did cause I love you.”
Black sparkles cloud my vision,
All I remember is you cleaning my incisions.
As I fade into darkness and begin to slip away,
You beg and plead for me to stay.
You tell me you love me too,
I always seemed too good to be true.
You said you’re sorry for all the crap you said.
You were just so tired from the tears you shed.
I drift into unconsciousness with a smile upon my face,
It was finally enough to end this chase.
As I awake I open my eyes,
You’re standing right there to my utter surprise,
I smile timidly, to see how you react.
You smile right on back.
I lean in to hug,
As you lean into kiss,
Who knew Life could begin like this?
