The cold stone stung against his hands as he was shoved roughtly back into his cell. He struggled pushing himself up to his knees, wincing feeling the dried blood pull against his skin.
"Next time remember your place you piece of crap." A feminie voice yells at him. She locks the door and walks away laughing. Angelica. Her name leaves a bad taste in his mouth everytime, but he could help but remember the way she use to be. Her voice was soft almost sweet thought it did hold an edge of crulety. Now there was nothing soft about it or her.
Duncan carefully pulled what was the sad remains of a shirt on, letting otu a shart hissing breath as the material clings to his body rubbing the fresh wounds. As the pain subsides he falls slowly into an uncomfrotable sleep.
"Come on now try again." Alwin smiles down at a young Duncan bow in hand.
The boy nods taking aim again firing an arrow staright towards a straw dummy. He got a hit but only barely but it didn't seem to matter Alwin smiled proudly. Duncan smiled back taking several more shot before setting the bow down. Alwin wraps an arms around the child's shoulder leading him away from the training yard into the castle. The two laughed and talked between themselves as they step into a the dinning hall. Angelica is sitting at the table but quickly rises walking over and hugs her brother deeply. She rest her head against his their black hair mingling together. Alwin returns his sister's hug, kissing the corner of her mouth then sets himself down in on of the chairs, motioning to Duncan to do the same.
A scream echos through the stone walls, someone has fallen to Angelica's hands. Duncan sighs shaking his head felling pity or the victim. He props himself against the wall of his cell looking up at the tiny patch of sky he could manage to see. Duncan shivers against the dampness rubbing his arms for warmth. His fingers brush against a long deep scar across his forearm, he smiles softly remembering that day.
The lizard army crowded around in a tight circle watching and cheering at the would be fight. Duncan stood in the middle holding a sword almost as tall as he was. A mand dressed in black towered over the small child as he scowled down at him.
"You will fight and learn your sword. Now strike." Chrysis crouches slightly awaiting the attack.
Duncan looked helplessly at the man, afraid to move, to weak to properly lift the sword. His gaze moved across the sea of green scales to find Alwin smiling. The man nods his head once as if to tell Duncan it was alright. That giving him strength Duncan ran at Chrysis lifting the sword, then all of a sudden felt a sharp pain in his arm. Chrysis had taken his own sword slashing at the boy's arm and followed through with a punch knocking Duncan to the ground.
"You will stay here until you learn to strike." He drops Duncan's sword by the child's head nearly hitting him and walks away.
Duncan gets up slowlly tears runnind down his cheeks from the pain. He looked up towards Alwin seeking comfort but the man gives none. He simply stood there looking at teh child before turning away following Chrysis.
The lizardmen broke the circle going back to their own tasks. All teh while bickering at each other or laughing at the boy. Duncan picks up the weapon and attempts to swing. The tip of the blade hardly leaves the ground. A lizard solider walks over laughing uncontrolably. The mocking laughs touched something deep inside of the small boy. He tightens his grip on the hilt spinning quickly slashing straight through the creature's torso. It stands there for a moment a shocked look on the face before falling over practically in half. The others around stop looking on in awe and shock. They just watched not a one daring to move as Duncan walks away from them.
