Lin woke up in Rui's bed. He opened his eyes, to find Rui's sleeping face in front of him. He seemed so sleepy, and happy. That made Lin happy as well. The moonlight hit them in the bed, like a spotlight in a broday show. Lin ony guessed that he would sleepover again.
When Lin looked at the clock on Rui's head board, it said twelve AM. His parents would get home around three today, three in the afternoon. When his parents told him that he would be transfered to Japan, he never thought that they would work even more. Now, they were pulling over nights all the time. His parents really didn't care that much about him anymore. They brought the money home, but they seem to have forgoten what it was for. They gave him money to spend, without even caring what on.
Lin looked through Rui's eyes, trying to wonder of what he was dreaming about. He couldn't see anything, but could feel that he was happy. Happiness is always better than money. Somehow, Tirel hadn't figured that out yet.
Lin sat up, and pulled on some pants. His stomach made a grumbling noise, and it split the nights silence. Lin felt his face blush. It sounded so loud against the quietness. He crawled over to Rui.
"Rui, can I get some food please?" Lin asked.
Rui grumbled, and moaned. "Sure, whatever."
Lin frowned, and got off the bed, walking toward the door. He put his hand on it lightly, and pressed the lock. He then pushed the handle down, and the door opened, letting light from the hall way poar in. When he entered the hallway, he noticed how quiet it was. Only the sound of Rui's sister talking on the phone was audible. Lin ignored it, and started walking down the steps of the stairs at the end of the hallway.
When he got to the bottom, he saw the kitchen light on, but went forward anyways. Inside the kitchen, sitting at the table, was an older man. He looked in his late thiries. The man hadn't noticed Lin until he got closer.
"Who are you?" He asked.
Lin put his hands in his pockets, and stepped back. "I'm Lin. Are you Ruin's father?"
The man nodded, and losened his expression. "Sit down, will ya?"
Lin nodded, and sat in a chair across from Rui's father.
"What do you need, son? Thirsty?" The father asked.
The noise that came from Lin's stomach explained it all though. No need for words. The father got up, looked in a pantry, and threw a small box of crackers. Lin caught it, and looked at it for a moment.
"It's safe you know. You can eat it." The father smiled.
Lin nodded, and started to open the box, looking inside. He grabbed a cracker, and started to take a small bite from it. The father sat down, and took a deep breath.
"So, are you the boy that's involved with my son?" He asked.
When Lin looked up, he saw the father, his expression on him. "Um... yes...?" Lin said.
The father gave something close to a laugh. "Don't worry about it, Lin. That's quite alright you know. I've never seen Ruin so happy I guess. I'm actualy thanking you, beleive it or not."
Lin smiled, and took another bite. "Rui is a really nice person. I hope that he continues to be."
"He said he was in love with you. Do you feel the same?" The father asked.
For a moment, the question caught Lin off gaurd, but he straightened his back, and nodded, looking the father in the eye. "Yes, I do."
"Do you know what love is?"
"Do you? I don't think anybody really knows what love is, but they just put a label on what they think is love." Lin explained.
The father looked almost sattisfied. "What do you think love means?"
Lin took a bite of the cracker, and looked at the father, in the eye. "I think it means being happy with one another, and helping deal with their problems no matter what. It's a special thing between two people, and it's very fragile. But those who are strong about their love, can't lose it or break it."
The father smiled brighter, and leaned on the chair. "Well, thanks for your input. I'm glad I got to put a face to the name. But answer me on this one last question."
Lin nodded, and took another cracker.
"What are you doing without a shirt?" The father laughed.
Lin almost dropped the cracker, but bit onto it. "Well, I usualy sleep without a shirt you see, and-"
The father started to laugh. "It's okay, Lin." Then Rui's Father got up from the chair, and walked back to the stairs. "Nice to meet you anyways, Lin. My name is Kire, but you can call me anything you want... okay, lets restrict that to Dad and Kire."
Lin nodded. "Nice meeting you as well, Kire. Thanks for the crackers."
Kire walked up the stairs, and went out of Lin's sight. After he knew he couldn't hear him, Lin let out a large breath. That was worse than going home. He had no idea of what the father was going to ask, or say, or do. Like going into the firepit.
