Well, today is my mom's birthday. She and I decided to go kayaking with one of her friends, and because I got a new camera for the holidays I thought the lake would provide a lot of photo opportunities.
I was right. Beautiful landscape, as always, and plenty of birds to capture on film. I managed to take a semi decent pic of a baby coot. Damn that little bugger was hard to catch x.x Most of the time it swam it had its head underwater, and when it did lift it up it would plunge it right back under after a split second x.x
Shortly after I had moved away from the baby coot's spot I noticed that my kayak was leaning to the side and water was about to come in. I tried to shift my weight to the other side and before I knew it, I fell into the lake. Took me a moment to realize I was in the water, all the while my body naturally reacting to being in water. Then I panicked XD
Good thing I was wearing a lift vest and that I was RIGHT NEXT to the shore, so I didn't sink. Lost a water bottle though >> AND my new camera was soaked ; ; It was on a neck strap, so I didn't lose that.
Mom and her friend called a camera repair place, and they said to take the batteries out, leave everything open (battery compartment, etc) and let it dry in the sun for a day or so. Then it'll fix itself.
Camera that fixes itself after it dries out, me likey 3nodding
So, hopefully my camera will be just fine.
I got the memory card and dried that out too, and my laptop has a spot for memory cards. MY BABY COOT SURVIVES >w< lawl, I worked hard for that pic!
