Chapter: ONE
Others
Continued
Gon had left the house to run a few errands, leaving Dekun to show me around. We talked for a while about numerous topics.
“How long have you and Gon known each other?” I asked.
“Twelve years.” Dekun said remembering a past experience. “He found me when I was five years of age and an orphan. He was only nine at the time, but treated me as if I had been his little brother his whole life. He watched over and protected me from humans that would torture me just for what I am. He would even take my place at moments.”
“How did Gon get the blue mark?” I had obviously hit a nerve with the last question.
“I’ll let Gon himself tell you of that story. It’s his business to discuss not mine.” Dekun replied.
“So he didn’t always have it?” I asked more curious.
“No. Unlike me he wasn’t born with part of him demon.” Dekun said.
“I’ve been an orphan since I was eight, how did your parents die? I f you don’t mind telling me.”
“My father died protecting my mother from Kyokun, my older brother. Well, my half brother. Kyokun’s mother was a full demon, but we share the same father. Kyokun doesn’t share my compassion and understanding of humans that I learned from Gon. He’s also twice as powerful as me, and twice as heartless. Kyokun has long blue-black hair, and purple tinted white skin. His eyes are as dead grey as mine, the only trait that defines us brothers. His tail is long and colored the same way as his skin, except with black instead of white. He wears an enormous black sword on his back. My father sacrificed himself in order to teleport my mother and I to a safe place, but it only took my brother a few months to find us and slay my mother. He left me for dead, and I would have been if Gon hadn’t have found me.
“Gon and I might’ve been able to defeat Kyokun and send him to hell where he belongs, but now Kyokun has an accomplice, one named Aeromis. Aeromis’s power is equal to that of Kyokun’s, and his looks are just as demonic. His skin is completely purple, matching his eyes. He has short scruffy black hair, and a small wolf-like tail. His left arm is covered in a demonic seal which he can disfigure and bend to his will. He possesses a black shield-like weapon with a darkened spike at the end that he uses to thrust into his enemies torso.” When Dekun finished his story he got up from the chair he was sitting in and walked over to a huge wardrobe. “No offense, but people are going to stare at you the longer you wear that dark red cape and such. Try on this black cloak. If you go out into public with Gon wearing that people won’t care. But all the red clashes with his stile, and people are going to notice.”
“Thanks.” I said in return as I took the mass of black clothes and the cloak Dekun had picked out for me. They were slightly big on me, but that didn’t matter, I would just grow into them eventually anyway.
“Of course,” Dekun started, “you can always keep your old clothes too. In case anything happens to these.”
I liked Dekun. He seemed content with his life right now, but shared the same desire to get revenge on the person that hurt him the most. Noi. After that night I confronted Noi about what happened with Cirr. He said the demon threatened him to reveal the location of myself, and that he also took place in the death of my parents. He said it wasn’t his fault and that he felt horrible for it, but his story was hardly believable. He said that he was a Hunter. One who hunts demons, and that he needed to get the demon in a quiet place (like the cemetery) to kill it without people noticing him. He said he needed to use my parents as bait to catch Cirr, but when he failed to kill Cirr, only leaving him with a few scars, he tried it again with me because I was an orphan and the village wouldn’t miss me. He tried to explain that he felt horrible, but I didn’t believe him. I only wish I had had better control of my power then so I could’ve killed him right where he stood. Dekun said that he and Gon would help me gain better control over my demon side. I only hope that one day I can pay Noi back, for deceiving me for so long.
