Basically, I used a tutorial that I found on Deviant Art. Specifically, it's for the program GIMP, so I doubt people with photoshop or another program would benefit as much from it as a GIMP user.
Though I disliked the style of the line-art that I used, it was the same one that the maker of the tutorial did so I thought it best to start with it. Also, they provided you with a copy so there wasn't any harm in using it. (NOTE: I DID NOT DRAW THIS PICTURE. I SIMPLY OUTLINED IT WITH THE BEZIER CURVE TOOL AND THEN COLOR AND SHADED IT.)

After:

All in all I'm pretty satisfied with it... I attempted to use the same color scheme as the maker of the tutorial, however you can tell I'm a beginner compared to their finished product (You can see what theirs looked like if you go check out the tutorial, which I'll link momentarily.)
This took a total of about 7 hours for me... Two yesterday and five today (normally wouldn't have had time but I stayed home sick today D:.) I hope to scan one of my own pictures and possibly work on it tomorrow.
You can find the tutorial I used here
You can find the GIMP program avaiblable for download here (Note: It's completely free!)
Alright. Now that I've made you suffer through all of that, how about some lulz, courtesy of Batman and friends (these animations DO NOT belong to me, and I did not make them. They were found on the livejounal community b_lulz. Apologies to whoever made them, I would credit but I forget your usernames!)

OH EM GEEEEEEEEEE.

Oh senor Bale, you scamp you.
Currently listening to: Lover I Don't Have to Love By: Bright Eyes (It's the third one down on the page.)
Bad actors with
Bad habits
Some sad singers
They just play tragic
And the phone's ringin'
And the band's leavin'
Let's just keep touching, let's just
Keep
Keep singin'
I want a lover I don't have to love
I want a boy who's so drunk he doesn't talk
Where is the kid with the chemicals?
I got a hunger and I can't seem to get full
I need some meaning I can memorize
The kind I have always seems to slip my mind
But you but you
You write such pretty words
But life's no story book
Love's an excuse to get hurt
And to hurt
Do you like to hurt?
I do, I do
Then hurt me
