Well... hm... my life as a Gaian has been... mostly nonparticipant. I mean... Look at me. The only thing I ever did for gaia was buy their stuff OCCASIONALLY. And I use that word occasionally seriously, special occasions only.

but I got a letter in the mail a few weeks back... it was PM invite to become a beta tester for the Gaia Battle System 'zOMG'

I had been waiting to play zOMG for close to... as long as I had been on Gaia. (I am 05 member... and there had been promises for a year before I even joined.) I could only remember hearing 'myths' and rumors about it happening sometime "next year" it's funny... because the answer is always, "Probably next year sometime..."

You know... I had grown tired of waiting for zOMG... I was only on Gaia because I needed a new MMO to play, Runescape sucks... Final Fantasy 11 is kinda expensiv (I might play that again anyway though), Maple Story currently is a b*****d towards macs, and I mean... I'm not too interested in anything else...

but this invite came at the right time... yes, it did.

I put on my Gaia cap and I ran over to the beta site right away.

Beta testing was all but fun actually. I enjoyed it... but it was torture... I had to stay up to around 6am most times just to be around for the opening of the tests... and then we were part of the hugest wave... our focus was not to play... but to over-populate the game and crash it. Well... we did just that... and I didn't get to play the first two times... I only go to get on... and then immediately get off.

I got my time with zOMG in it's final weeks of closed beta testing... it was fun... but we didn't get to keep ay of our treasures when they switched the beta testing to OPEN beta testing...

When they switched to open beta... I could no longer play... I felt a bit sad that just like that I could play... although I had helped prepare the game for all the gaian's who would eventually enjoy it. But I understood that that was all the tests were... I knew I wasn't getting some better treatment... but it felt like it to me... I felt privileged. I met so many cool people. And I even created a thread that was ACTUALLY successful. (it was about counting down to the next test, it was a place to chill and talk with people like you: Impatient and edgy, sleepy and can't wait for the test.)

Well... zETA was a dream come true. (a small dream of course) I hope to enjoy more things about gaia in the future... although... I am highly doubtful...

well... so closes another chapter in my gaian history.

(the whole time I dressed up in my panda outfit, with the go-go helmet from gaia widget, and the whites and blacks. Notable: I also had on the wishing star evolution first phase on my hat, and I held a death whisper dagger in my right. I also held Alruna's flaming rose in my left up to my nose.)
