Oh Minnesota, how I loath you.
So it was the last day of summer on Wednesday, right? So of course we have to have a huge ******** storm. I think there was an actual touchdown (tornado), too. Andover and ...somewhere else got hit the hardest. Hope Colette's whichever parent's house is okay. Around here the worst is an uprooted tree. And there are lots of them. My neighborhood and the neighborhoods around me didn't get any damage to anything other than their lawns. Amazingly no fallen trees or branches seem to have damaged anything! Except my house, of course. Or rather, my deck. One of our nice pine trees was uprooted in the back of our yard, doing no damage other than to my heart because it was such a pretty tree. ;_; A different one's top cracked down and fell on our deck, breaking a small part of the railing. But you see, the support beams were pretty rotten already and we had wanted to fix it up for some time, but now insurance will pay for it! biggrin So that's definitely not a bad thing. But I will miss our pretty tree. D,X Luckily for us, power came back on Thursday morning at around 5:15 AM: right after I woke up. School was cancelled that day for most of the twin cities and the surrounding areas, but most schools opened back up yesterday: Friday. Some of my friends said that they won't get power until Monday! I can't imagine that. D: We just got internet back up this morning and some people don't even have power. And today's cloudy and dark so there isn't much natural light to be had. How awful.
Speaking of yesterday, we had a bomb threat. Yes, another one. Seriously, you'd think after freshman year with the...oh, five bomb threats people would learn their lesson, but no! Friday was homecoming so I'm assuming they (the stupid kid) wanted to cancel it or something. Of course it wasn't. After the first two BTs the school just had us get on busses, park in front of Wynsong for a couple hours, then go back to school while they brought in the bomb sniffing dogs. And the same happened on Friday. There was a pepfest to be started at 1:10, but that was postponed since the school had to give us lunch. Third lunch didn't get out 'til 1:40 and that's about when we were excused to the pepfest. We didn't even get to the football field 'til 1:50 so we (Kong and I) hung around for about five minutes and then started walking to the busses (we get out at 2). It was pretty pointless, but at least we didn't have to stay in our fourth hour for another 20 minutes. I was getting really bored. And I got to spend 20 minutes with Kong, too! ...He made Mahader cry. Although it was strange for her to cry about the fact that he didn't get on her bus when we were leaving school due to the BT. I think it was that time of the month. XD; But he didn't apologize either so I got a little mad at him, but it went away after like 2.5 seconds. XP Mostly because I couldn't figure out why Mahader was emo about it. Just so everyone knows, nothing was cancelled-which would have happened if we left school, so the game and dance were held. Which of course I didn't go to. I wonder who prom king & queen are this year? Probably people I don't know.
So. This was a pretty exciting end of summer, eh? I'll post pics of our yard as soon as I find the cord for the camera...I think it fell behind the desk somewhere, but it's dusty back there...D:
