Kenji waited in the foyer while I went upstairs to pack my things. I looked at my bed and saw the stain that was on my sheets, my jaw dropped and a chill went down my spine. 'What did I do to bleed that badly..?' I wondered. "Hey Aiko, hurry up I have things to do!" Kenji called from downstairs. I took a deep breath and went to my closet and grabbed my suitcase and packed my things. My father would be in Denver for another three months which meant I was stuck at Kenji's house until further notice. I went downstairs with my bags and locked the door behind me as Kenji and I left for his house. "How is Haruko..?" I asked quietly. Kenji frowned and took my bags then walked ahead of me a couple feet. Haruko is Kenji's older brother but they have been having some problems with each other lately. "Kenji I thought..." I whispered walking faster to catch up to him. "Don't sweat it Aiko..." he sighed and looked over at me, thinking of what he should and shouldn't tell me just yet. "Haruko is home now. He is doing better..." he said quietly. I felt bad for Kenji...having to live with the man who killed your girlfriend and ruined your life must be hell. Haruko isn't sane he had an accident when he was younger that left him mentally unstable, sometimes he can be the sweetest man you've met and then other times he can be dangerous a ruthless killer...I took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh. I reached for Kenji's free hand and he froze, his hand was limp for a second then his fingers wrapped around mine and he squeezed my hand reassuringly. I looked up at him to see the dimple in his right cheek showing, his smile made me feel better. "Don't worry about anything Leiko is back home too. No one will let anything happen to you, I promise." he said as we walked hand in hand down the street to his house.
We arrived at Kenji's house and were greeted by his mother and father. "Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Yukimura." I bowed. "It's good to see you again Aiko..." Kenji's father said quietly. "You've grown since I've last seen you. Such a beautiful young lady." his mother smiled at me and glance down at our hands then grinned at Kenji. He dropped my hand as soon as he saw his mother grin and went into the foyer; he took off his shoes and went upstairs. I left my shoes in the foyer and followed him upstairs to a guest bedroom at the end of the hallway. The room was nice, decorated in an elegant black lace was a bed on the far side of the room. There was a window facing the east and it was framed with matching lace curtains next to it was a white dresser. "Wow..." I said quietly. "Mom wanted to redecorate..." Kenji said with a smirk "Crazy woman can't just leave a room bare." he said sarcastically. "I like it." I said. "Good this is your room." he said tossing my bags on the bed. "Come on. Leiko has missed you." he said leaving and heading downstairs to the living room. I followed him to the living room and saw Leiko lying on the sofa. She looked the same as the last time I saw her, her hair was black and her eyes were purple, she looked just like her mother so beautiful but sadly she knew it. "Leiko get up." Kenji said slapping her foot. She looked up and her face lit up. "Aiko-chan!" Leiko smiled jumping off the sofa and hugging me around the neck. "Hi Leiko-chan..." I said smiling. "How have you been? Has Kenji been making trouble for you?" she asked with a smirk. "N-no." I shook my head. Kenji mumbled something under his breath and went upstairs. I sat in the living room with Leiko and watched TV until Ms.Yukimura called everyone for dinner.
I sat next to Kenji and Mr. / Mrs. Yukimura sat at each end of the table, across from me is where Leiko and Haruko sat. He had a smirk on his face as he watched me eat my meal, I felt exposed under his stare. Kenji patted my knee underneath the table to reassure me that I was safe but I still felt as if Haruko was going to attack me any moment. "I haven't seen you in years Aiko...how old are you now?" Haruko asked breaking the silence at the table. My eyes shot up from my plate and stared at him surprised at his voice...it was so soft now and it had a sort of velvety edge to it as if he were speaking in a whisper. He looked at me with a brow raised waiting for my answer; I looked down at my plate and took a deep breath. "I-I'm fifteen now..." I said quietly. "My you have gotten older, Aiko-chan." he said smiling at me. I felt nervous and unsteady sitting across from him, knowing what he had done and yet not being punished. He was let go with nothing but a slap on the wrist and kick in the butt, I frowned. Murder was awful...murder is what took my mother from me how could that murderer get away and this murderer sit across from me and smile..? I felt sick looking at him and thinking of the life lost at his hands...Hana...she was the best thing to happen to Kenji, she was a smart girl and very quiet but she opened Kenji's heart and made him smile and laugh...everything I couldn't do. When Kenji found out Hana was dead, murdered, he went into depression...I haven't heard Kenji laugh in years... "Is something wrong, Aiko?" Mrs. Yukimura asked. I looked up at her realizing I was frowning and my hands were fisted under the table. "No Yukimura-sama...I just have to go change my bandages. Please excuse me..." I said pushing away from the table and going to my room.
My bandages were on the dresser where I had left them when I had unpacked. I threw my old bandages in the trashcan and put on clean ones, after I was finished I took a few deep breathes to regain control before I went back downstairs. "Aiko...you alright?" I heard Kenji ask from outside the door.
