The Demon's Halo
Chapter 8
"Dam it..... what do I do now?!" Damu thought irretably as he flew.
He didn't know what to do. He was all out of ideas.
"The only person who might be able to help probubly won't even let me speak to him since Kirai gave me her demonic powers....." He thought and sat down on the edge of a cliff, sighing deeply. He hated the thought of giving up. But he hated the thought of Dawn dieing even more.
"What the hell can I do? I can't let Dawn die..... But I can't help her eithar......." Damu whispered through clenched teeth and he put his head in his hands, filled with frustration and fear.
"Maybe I should just get it over with and kill myself right now....... then I won't be around to watch Dawn die....." Damu whispered.
He stood up on the edge of the cliff and retracted his wings.
"I'm sorry Dawn, I tried." He thought.
"Suicide is never the answer Damu." A voice said.
Damu stopped and looked up.
"Shuja?" Damu whispered.
"What are you doing Damu?" Shuja whispered and landed behind him.
Damu turned to look at him. He hasn't changed.
Platinum blonde hair that slowly fell over his bright yellow eyes, and big white downy angel wings.
"I don't know Shuja...... I can't save Dawn anymore, I failed on my task, and now if I die I can't return to Heaven or Hell...... I'm lost again Shuja..... I don't know what to do...." Damu sighed and sat down again.
Shuja sat beside Damu.
"The Almighty One sent me here." He said. Damu looked over at him.
"He knows about Kirai giving you her powers."
Damu sighed deeply.
"I know..."
"He plans to dismiss it." Shuja said looking at him.
"What?!" Damu gasped looking at him with wide eyes. "But it's against the law for an angel to even speak to a demon, let alone a demon give their powers to an angel! How can he dismiss it?!" Damu gasped.
"Kirai loved you Damu, the Almighty One knew that, and even though Kirai was born, raised and lived like a pure-blood demon, she had a very rare case. She was a demon with a heart. She only gave you those powers to save your life. The Almighty One knew that." Shuja said. Damu was speechless.
"So.... I can go back to Heaven if I die?" He whispered.
"Yes." But the one who said it wasn't Shuja. Damu's heart stopped.
He slowly turned around.
"Damu..." It was Kirai!! White and gold downy angel wings covered her like a jacket, and she smiled greatly.
"Kirai! How!? But......... How?!" Damu gasped.
"The Almighty One rewarded me, for saving you, so he let me into Heaven." Kirai whispered.
Shuja smiled at him.
"We can save Dawn, Damu, and Prise. And we're here to tell you how." He whispered.

Maisha was gaurding the cave ebterance when I awoke the next day.
Damu still wasn't back, I was begining to get worried about him.
"Dawn..... I'm getting hungry, can we eat the phoenix girl over there?" Duke whispered. Maisha glared at him.
I snickered a bit, until I relized just how hungry I was.
"Maisha? We do need to eat eventually, we are not imortal as you are." I said.
Maisha looked over at me.
"I know that Miss Dawn. Try and last a little longer though. I feel the power of my master growing, so he is returning soon." Maisha said glancing ober at the sky.
Damu was on his way back! My heart started beating at a normal rate as I sighed in relief.
"I still say we eat her." Duke grumbled. I smiled ad rolled my eyes.

"Can you stay? For a while I mean?" Damu asked Kirai.
"Well, I'll stay as long as I have to." She smiled.
Shuja was making preparations for take off.
"I was begining to miss you already Kirai. After you died, I thought I'd never see you again...." Damu whispered.
"Me too...." Kirai whispered. "I know you don't feel the same about me as I do you.... but will you allow me to kiss you?" Kirai asked putting her hand on his cheek. Damu smiled, his eyes softening.
"Of course."
Taking her face, Damu brought her lips to his.
His emotions were a little more intense then he expected. After witnessing Kirai's death, he relized how much he careed about her.
As he thought, he softened the kiss, actually enjoying it.
"Maybe, she is more then a friend to me after all." Damu thought and smiled against her lips.
When their lips parted, Damu stood up and walked over to Shuja.
"First off, we have to check on Dawn and Duke. Then we'll go hunt Prise down."
