Eh, tipping kinda bothers me. Mind you, I love to tip free art, but tipping when I'm paying for the art kinda urks me. Why? well, a tip is given when someone is given wages below livable expectancy after splitting the cost with someone else. In the world of gaia, you set your own price and you work alone, no one is here telling you how much to sell your art for or asking for a certain portion, therefore you're setting and keeping your own wages. I've never found it logical to tip someone who is asking 10k or more for their art, its not reasonable because they're not gonna have to split it with someone else later. A tip is given as pocket change so he/she can live comfortably, when you set your own prices, it is unnecessary.
The Exception
When someone's art is too poor to really earn anything. Someone who earns maybe 1k per drawing lets say. If they could, they would probably sell their art for more, but due to lack of skill they can't.
My thinking is, would you tip a lawyer who is already costing you thousands of dollars already? Or would you rather tip the waitress down the street? They're both doing you services to make your life more comfortable, but one is already living more comfortably than you, why should you give them more than what you have? Hmm maybe Im just selfish, but that's just my way of thinking haha.
