I'm getting a promotion!!

My general manager asked me if I was interested in serving. I wanted to jump up and down and scream, "YES!!" but instead I just calmly said that I was very interested and happy to be a server (our equivalent of a waiter/waitress--just that it's a gender neutral term).

It means I'll be working more, which will probably end up being stressful, but that also means I'll have even more money.

However, I also learned today that the managers want to watch you while you get your check. I went into our closet to pull out my check and the binder that we sign off in as my best friend (who took my shift last night so I could rest! I love her) warned me that I better quickly do it before our manager sees me. I was confused and a little angry at it. She then explained that managers just didn't like people going through the checks and grabbing their own. I muttered, "Whatever; screw it" and snatched mine and quickly signed my name in our binder, then stuffed it in the closet before the manager could see. I decided if I was caught, I'd plead ignorance, since I had never heard of that new rule anyway. Everyone at my work is pretty much very honest when it comes to other people's money. We've never had a problem with someone taking someone's tips, anyway. A little while ago fifty dollars was stolen from the register and they suspected someone who worked there did it, but we haven't had any incidents recently.

Naturally, this new rule would upset me most. I don't care that our new general manager is very strict on people arriving on time, or the restaurant being super clean. He also doesn't like seeing us not doing anything, even when everything has already been cleaned. I can deal with all of that. I can even deal with him not answering our questions a lot and some other things that have happened within the past few weeks. But a manager watching me to make sure I don't steal someone's money? I hate being watched like that; I'm honest enough not to take someone's hard-earned money because it's just wrong. I don't need to be watched like I'm being accused of something I didn't do.

Ah, and I also had a very hard time falling asleep last night because my characters Ashlyn and Amelia kept talking to me. Lewis got them to be quiet though. Out of all my characters, he's the sweetest. And he's the one who isn't even in the novel I'm writing! (Maybe that's why he's the nicest...)
