Ah! The last traces of that awful sunburn I acquired during the games are finally gone. I suppose it was inevitable. Usually when I venture outside during the daytime, I cover myself up. A coat, a hat to shade the face, a scarf. But during the games it was difficult to keep myself covered. And it was impossible to simply stay inside with the honor of Durem at stake. Pity that we only won silver after all that...
Still, the hideous burn that ensued aroused my curiosity regarding the usual effect of sunlight on vampires. My preliminary research suggests that most types of vampires are not in fact physically harmed by sunlight but are simply depowered by it. That does seem to fit with my own sense of weakness during the games, and may in fact explain Durem's second-place showing. Perhaps the violence of my burn was simply a result of my increasing avoidance of the sun. More research is necessary.
In other news, it seems that there are small birds hiding inside an antique urn that I recently purchased in the marketplace. It is quite an annoyance, to say the least. I'm simply not used to having living things around. That is to say, apart from dear Lysander, and he is quite capable of taking care of himself for the most part. What will I do with these birds? I do hope they don't damage the urn. It was difficult to find, and the patterns are so lovely.
