Butterflies always make me feel nostalgic....
And a nother day passed. I checked my list of souls to see who will be next to leave their life of a human. It was a small child. A young boy.
How cruel a life of a death god can be when you're still familiar with such human emotions...
Taking my soul staff I headed out to town. No one saw me...
Ofcourse they didn't, they were alive and their time to see me will come one day, but just not yet...
I flew up to the boy and stopped just a few feet away. He was crossing the street carelessly. I frowned in disghust when my blindfolded eyes saw the coming Drunk driver. A woman screamed to watch out, but it was too late for the boy, he was already hit.
"why do the guilty ones always live..." I sighed to myself and walked up to the crowd. A man was trying to save the boy, but it was no use. I knew his time was now and I couldn't do anything to help.
"I see.... an angel..." the boy whispered to the man. I stopped to look around. There were no angels around... was it me? The boy smiled a little "weird... I always thought angels are white... not purple...." I smiled at the boy. That was sweet of him to say "I am an angel young one... an angel of death..." I whispered and kissed his forehead. The boy closed his eyes and after a few moments the man said that the boy was dead. Just then the ambulance came and I sighed."and to think if they got here a few moments sooner, he would've lived" I said to myself and held up my soul staff. It started to glow and the spirit of the boy was lifted from the body, making its way upwards "have a great time in heaven" I waved and took my leave.
If I hadn't kissed him, If I would've waited a few moments longer he would've lived, right? Wrong... he would've died... I do not decide the fate, it's already been decided... I just do what I'm told, rarely acting on my own free will... I can kill if I want to... but I'm forbidden to let a person live if he's destined to die...
"I can kill... if I want to..." I whispered and turned back. The drunk was trying to escape. A smirk came on my lips "I can kill if I want to..." I repeated and held out my staff at the direction the man was heading. The staff glowed and a truck just happened to pass by. Just like the boy, the man was hit, but unlike the young one, his body was scattered to pieces. A sight not to be seen by the faint of heart it was... but I did the right thing... I saw that mans future... he wasn't a very good man, his life made no diference to no one... "I wonder... how long does it take for the human emotions to fade..." yes, they were getting in the way... but until then, I'll just have to bare it...
