Mind you that this story is based on a weird dream that I have a few days ago. It freaked me out and everyone I told about it said I should write it into a story. It's odd in its own way. but I think it might just have some potential. so here I go. The names have been changed but are based one a few of my real friends. Remember this was a dream and totaly uncontrollable, so don't feel bad if your not in this dream because you just happen to know which character your based on! I've also added a bit more so its more like an actual story rather than just my dream.
Also please mind my grammar and spelling, I'm horrible at this stuff. It's just been way too long!
Part I
It was hot outside. It could have been late July with weather like this but it was still mid June. Too hot for an Oregon summer. But the hot weather didn't bother me at all. I was cool at this moment. I was away from the blazing sun inside of a hunter green Honda Civic and using it's air conditioning for all it was worth. This was the life. Watching the farmland and cows roll by as I rode in the back and chilled. It was nice.
"Take this next right!" Don yelled from the passenger seat as he pointed to a road Annie almost missed. The turn was tight, but she managed it.
"God damnit, Don!" She flicked back her golden curls as she bitched him out. "I told you to tell me before we hit the turn, not just as we hit it."
"Hit it..." I giggled.
"********! You need to just chill, Annie." Replied Don. He frowned as reached in his pocket for a cigar and straightened his cap as he with his other hand.
Annie snapped, "Don't light that!"
"You'll stink up the car." Lilah finally spoke up.
I smiled the whole time. These petty arguments happened all the time. Amusement it what I got from that.
"Tell him to stop, Millie." Lilah nudged me in the shoulder, "He's your boy toy."
I stopped giggling to myself and triend to make my self sound somewhat serious, "Dawn, don't light it."
Don placed the Cigar back in his pocket and sighed. He was out numbered. But non the less he turned around long enough to flash a smile and those big green eyes at me. I smiled back and felt content.
It was quiet again. I truned to the window on my right. It was so empty. A while ago we would have seen a few barns and houses, but now I've seen nothing but grass.
Lilah looked up with strands of chocolate brown hair in her blue eyes and asked, "How far are we going?"
"We should almost be there." Don answered. He removed his cap and scratched at thick light brown hair.
I looked at my friends intensively as we drove further and further in to nowhere. Annie has short curly locks of gold that crowned her fair toned face. She had soft eyes that were the color of a stormy night. She was tall and thin and well endowed. The guys loved her for her looks, but never fully appreciated her. Not like they should.
Lilah was simple in looks but beautiful at the same time. She wore her hair loose. I always wondered why. She had such beautiful eyes. There were as blue as the sky at times. Her skin was light and she never showed it off, unless it was a low cut shirt. She was proud of those babies. They stood out on her small frame. She was quiet today, which was abnormal. Usualy she'd be joking with Don.
And then there was Don. Oh how I love him. His skin was dark from his summer tan, almost darker than his hair. And his eyes stood out from it all. He's tall and nicly built. Not too much but not too little.
As I thought about my friends I lost track of time. Before I knew it, everyone was leaving the car. I unbuckled and let myself out. As I stepped out of the car I got a cold shiver up my spine. I let it go.
About 5 feet ahead of me stood a tall stable like building. I shielded my eyes as I stood there and stared. The wood was old and there was no paint. I smoke silently, "Creepy."
"We gotta go though this place and take a right at the picnic table." Sean began to walk into the building.
"What? I'm not going in there." Annie squealed.
"Don't worry, lets go." We followed.
It was dark but we could see the other end. The the sides of us were large stalls. Large boulders of some kind of stone filled the each stall. I counted 20 on each side until we reached the end. I wonder what they were there for. I shrugged it off. As we reached the end Dawn disappeared off to the right. I ran to catch up. He stood under canopy that hung off the side of a shack. There, underneath was a picnic table. "I gotta go this way," He pointed to the right, "anyone coming with me?"
Annie walked beside him, "I will."
"We'll just stay here." I sat on the bench of that table.
"What she said." Lilah joined me.
Don and Annie made there turn and disappeared. I looked around for a bit. It was empty. I saw nothing but the stable beside us and the trees and grass in the distance. It was getting hot, so I looked at my watch. "They've been gone for almost 30 mins."
"Really?" Lilah stood up, "Let go see whats taking so long."
I followed. We could see them a few feet ahead uf us. They were talking and not alone. A bunch of teens stood in a row. In the middle a taller male. Shoulder length black hair and dark eyes. His eyes met with mine. He scared me for some reason. The rest of them didn't stand out, until a female looked right at me and smiled. She was reasonably thin and tall. Her clothing looked dirty and old. I walked up to Don. "Are you almost done here?"
He replied, "Not yet. you can stay if you want."
"No I'm fine. I'm going back. You coming, Lilah?" I asked.
"No I'm staying." She planted herself next to Annie.
I turned around and began to make my way back to the picnic table. As I walked I felt eyes behind me. I looked back. It was that girl. She smiled and sped up until she was beside me. "How old are you?"
"What?"I was confused for a second or two.
"You look so young." she spoke excitedly.
I giggled, I'm almost 24."
"Really? You still look so young. and your hair is so dark. your skin like cocoa." She reached out and touched my hair.
By this time we were sitting on the bench. I felt odd. She was smiling so awkwardly and staring at me so intensively. She went on and on about how young I looked. I tried not to pay attention. It was all just jumbling together.
Suddenly I heard bells in the distance. They sounded like church bells. I asked the girl beside me, "What was that."
Her face went blank and the smile was gone. "Nothing." She remarked.
I turned around and saw another person, a child. And then I saw an other, and another. They just came out of nowhere. All ages. All sizes. First I saw just 3 or 4, then soon it became 10 and 15. More and more. I turned back to the direction Don and the others should be coming from. Soon enough they did. As they approched I ran to them. The looks on thier faces were of shock. I knew they were thinking the same thing I was, Where the hell did all these kids come from?! I tugged on Don's shirt, " Lets get out of here!"
Don stood there for a second or two and nodded. We began to make our way to the stable. The girl who had sat with me smiled and then mouthed something. I couldn't make it out.
When we entered the stable it was somehow darker than before. This time there was children inside the stables. There frail legs shackled to the floor as they worked picks into the large boulder. What was going on here? I tried to calm myself by clutching tightly onto Don's arm. I knew Annie and Lilah felt the same. They held each other as we walked to the end. As we reached the end we noticed the doors were closed. to our left stood a tall desk. Behind the desk was a girl who looked no older than 8. She looked down at us. The look in her eyes was of maddness. Not angry madness, but crazy madness. I spoke calmly to her, "Can you let us out, please?"
"out? Out you say? You can't leave with out permission!" She screamed at us.
I was confused for a moment, "Then may we have your permission?"
Her eyes flared, "You can't leave with out permission!"
"We just asked, you lil b***h! Let us out!" Lilah blurted. Thats was the feisty Lilah I knew.
"you can't leave with out," She was cut off.
"Let them out. They have my permission." A deep voice spoke. I turned around. It was him, the dark haired teen from before. The one Don spoke to. At that moment our eyes met once again. I shuddered.
Dawn tugged on my arm, "Lets go." Just like that the doors opened. I saw daylight.
PART II
I paid no attention to anything at this point. With on hand I grabbed on to Don's and and with the other I grabbed for Annie. I looked back to makes sure she was holding on to Lilah. She was, good. I began to run towards the light pulling my friends along with me. I just wanted to get out. Out of the dark. Out of the sight of those creepy children. Out of the sight of that boy.
"Slow down, or I'll trip!" Annie spoke, she was out of breath. We all were.
"Sorry. I just, just, i just needed to get out." I knelt over a bit. Breathing heavily. I looked over at Lilah, her eyes were wide.
"Where's the car?" She shouted.
I looked up. It was gone. Every thing was gone. Not just gone but replaced. We were in a totally new place.
"What the hell." Don whispered. Just like Lilah, his eyes were wide.
I looked around. Every where I looked sat old mattresses. They looked torn and ripped into pieces, old and stained with time. Shredded and matted blankets flooded the ground along with beaten up and used toys and stuffed animals. It reminded me of a junk yard.
"Ok. Ok. Just calm down." I spoke to myself. I could hear Lilah say the same under her own breath. I took Don's hand into my own and squeezed.
"How did we get here. Didn't we go back the was we came?" Annie questioned.
"We did. I think we did. Everything just changed." Don fixed his hat. He was the calmest out of us all.
Lilah blurted, "But how the ******** did it happen?"
"It was the bell." I said in a mom toned voice. "It was the damn bell. I know it!" I was more excited now. I knew it was the bell. "Those weird lil kids came out right after it sounded. It had to have been that damned bell."
"I don't care how or why or what happened. I just want to go. We need to go. We need to find a way back." Anni had tears in her eyes now. Her body shook.
I walked up to her and rubbed her shoulders. "We'll get out."
"Well, lets not just stand here. Lets find away out." Don said as he lightly patted Annie on the arm.
We began to look around were we stood. Several openings lay before us. The decision was which of them to take. We stood there for a moment. Waiting to see who would make the move to lead us to our freedom. As usual it was Don that led the way. "Just stay close and follow me."
"What if we get lost?" Annie asked.
"We're already lost, is how I see it, so it won't matter huh?" Don spoke with out slowing down or turning to look at us.
We walked for about 30 mins. Making our way around the piles. Everywhere I looked I saw the reminiscence of dolls, toy trains, and other child like things. Until we came to a circular clearing with a single queen sized mattress in the middle. It was at that moment I heard something off to the left. "Did you hear that?"
"Yeah, did you see what made it?" Don asked.
"No but it came from that way." I pointed to the left. When I pointed the sound came again.
"There's something over there." Lilah said quietly.
I took a few steps towards the noise to see if I could see what was hiding from us. A noise came again but this time I caught a glimpse of it. It was a child, a very small child. I stopped in my place and spoke in a soft soothing tone, "Don't worry. I won't hurt you."
"What are you doing? What is it? Is it another creepy kid?" Annie wondered.
"Shh." I put my finger up to my mouth making the all knowing sign to hush. I then looked back to the direction the child was. "Can you help us out of here, please?"
The child slowly came out of hiding. His pale face covered in dirt and in his arms he held a torn and tattered blanket. He looked up at me and smiled softly. "You want to go?"
I smiled, "yes. Can you please help us?"
He looked around briefly and made his way to the large mattress in the center of the clearing. "It's too heavy. but if you move it I can help." He pointed down to the mattress.
I made no haste and walked over. Motioning to Don to help me as I knelt down to move it. We lifted it up and moved it over. Underneath was a sandbox the exact same size as that old mattress. I stood there looking down, "What next?"
"Hold on, I'll help." The boy spoke as he reached into the top pocket of his dirty coveralls. He pulled out something small. He held his hand open and in his palm was what looked like to be one of those fun sized candy bars. I was confused by this. "Eat this and stand in the center to go home. Don't take too much or I'll die."
I snatched the candy and ran to the sand box. All I heard was "eat this" and "go home". I was in a big panic now. I took a big bite. I looked at the candy, a thick red liquid oozed from the inside. I looked up and noticed the boy grabbing at his chest.
"What did you do?" Lilah yelled at me. "Didn't you hear him?"
"I... I...."I was at a lost for words.
"It doesn't matter now." Annie took the candy from me and took a bite. She then passed it on. But nothing happened.
The boy sat on the ground as she held his blanket close. "I said not too much.... or... I'll die."
I looked at him in the eye. I felt so bad. I began to cry. "What do we do?"
"Look!" Lilah pointed down at the sad below our feet. The sand began to move. I began to move. It felt as if we were sinking.
Just then The boy who helped us screamed in agony. He was truly dieing. I jumped from the sand box to help him. I scooped him in my arms and made my way back to the sand box when I felt a sharp pain in my back.
"Millie!" Don shouted out. "Don't move." I stood still.
"You killed him! Damn you!" The girl from the stable who wouldn't let us pass snatched the boy from me. He was limp. She threw him onto the ground and began to shout, "I told him. I told him. I told him I told him." was all she would say. Suddenly she stopped. "Take them away."
The pain in my back ceased and someone grabbed onto my arm.
"No, Millie! Let her go!" Don screamed.
I looked up at him and the others. Strange black creatures took them into their claws. I realized that one of them had me too. I was cooperating this whole time. But something took over me. I elbowed that thing that held me in its groin. It let go and I jumped away.
"Let go of them!" I screamed as I began to hit one of them in the back. It held on to Annie. She fought along with me. Beside us Lilah tried to fight and Don had almost tipped one over.
The little girl yelled in anger now, "Stop them you big Dummies! Don't let them get away. Don't let them get away!" She jumped up and down as if she was throwing a temper tantrum.
I looked over at Don just as one of the things bashed him right in the head. I leaped out to him. Suddenly everything went black. And the pain, it was so intense.
