~How to catch Mew on the Blue and Red versions~
Play your game normal until you get to Cerulean City. Once there, DO NOT go into the gym yet. Heal your pokemon and fight all of the trainers on the bridge. Then, catch an Abra. Go to the Pokemon Center and put Abra in your party. Go back up the bridge and there will be a guy in the grass that you caught the Abra in. Get to the spot where you are one step away from battling him. DO NOT battle him yet. Then SAVE. This is the tricky part. Walk forward and before you see the [!] above his head, pause it. (this is why you save it, just in case you don't get it on your first try) Once you have it paused, tell your Abra to use Teleport. Before you are teleported, you should see the [!] above the guy's head. You will be teleported to the pokemon center. Your "A" and "B" buttons won't work. (do not be alarmed) Walk into the gym and fight the first guy in the water. (your buttons will work now) Once you beat him, make sure you have about ten pokeballs. (I like to have about twenty) Go up the bridge and the pause screen will pop up. (or something else weird will happen) Hit the "B" button and you will run into Mew. Catch it and it will be yours.
