Several years later, Syrith stared boldly into the unmoving eyes of Yoozepode. "Shame," said the Prince of Darkness, "he was a fierce warrior, and now he will be tortured and killed for murdering my father."

Somehow Yoozepode heard this, from deep within the realm of his mind, and he, with terrible pain, tore his eyes free and looked at Syrith straight on. His eyes blazed with hatred toward the little rat who thought himself to be mighty just because he had a crown. Yoozepode wanted to crush the young man who stood before him.

Syrith laughed, "I think he's getting angry. Look at his eyes, see how he hates us!" With this, Syrith turned away and hopped on his black dragon and flew away.

The sight of the dragon reminded Yoozepode of Valux, one of his many friends who had helped on his journey. And now his journey, was it to end here? The little strand of fire that had allowed Yoozepode to think clearly vanished as he was frosted by Syrith's favorable ice titan. He couldn't feel it, but he was being moved on a wooden carrier. As he advanced into Syrith's palace of night and death, the ice surrounding him blackened.

Valux sat with Eritha in a cave. They had lost hope, for they had not seen or heard Yoozepode in six years. They could not contact him through the magic of minds, for, though they did not know, Yoozepode's mind had been frozen as well as his body. But now, since Valux sensed that Yoozepode's mind had become visible once more, the two dragons and their new born, Barga, a dragon with the beautiful color of a deep, shiny crimson, had now gained hope.

They took flight (luckily Barga had been practicing and training on his flight for teo years) and headed towards where they had sensed his mind flicker.
