August 23, 2007, which was yesterday, I had another cross-country meet. It was horrible. Way too hot for a good meet, I ended up running a 25:20 (I think…something in the 20’s anyway.) which is my worst time in a long time. I normally lose to this one girl, but I beat her this time, which means really bad weather as far as I’m concerned. And I went out way too fast, for like 2 seconds I was in first! That was exhilarating. But I ended up getting 55/120, which means I did better than my last one if your going by place and not time.
Anyway, the weather where I live is insane. It was sweltering hot to the point that some of the girls were crying while running, and then the boys race started and by the time the first place type people were finishing there was a slight temperature drop and a huge cloud coming. Then everyone started running, not just the runners. The last few runners didn’t get to finish their race, because in about a 20-minute period it went from way too hot to a Tornado Warning or something. So we all gathered up our stuff and herded into the gym.
So there was 240+ sweaty runners crammed into a single space, plus a few parents and people running the race. Stunk worse than most things I’ve smelled before. But we were all okay and stuff and my friend got third place! She’s a really good runner and stuff.
Oh! And I got to wear spikes for the first time in my life, which is probably why I started way too fast. They’re so light and stuff. I love them!
