The most unusual thing just happened to me. I was traveling to my old friend's place when I suddenly heard a woman scream. It chilled me to the bones. I was taken back in time to my mother's death, reliving the pain for that brief moment. I sprang into action. I unstrapped my scythe from my back holster and ran for the noise of the screaming. The sound came from woods to my left. I raced in, dodging fallen trees, vines, and undergrowth. I soon broke into a clearing. A small cabin stood near the far end of the meadow. 4 men guarded the door. The screams came from inside. I launched my falcon to rid of the guards. It sprang into the air, and streamed through the air for them. The guards saw the falcon coming, withdrew their swords, and sliced my falcon clean in half.
I was angered immensely. I dashed for the guards, letting out a blood curdling cry. they saw me and stood ready to defend. I must say I underestimated them. I swiped at the men, but they dodged my attacks effortlessly. I doubled back, whipping out my second scythe from my holster. They attacked. I parried their blows, following with my own attacks. I connected with one of the men's legs, but my scythe shattered from the blow. I soon realized that they were using armor made from Damascus. It is the strongest armor ever created, worth a fortune.
I flipped my scythe around, knowing that I had to go for the face or I would lose the fight for sure. I swung the scythe upward, blade facing the sky. It dug into the face of the guard. I left the scythe imbedded in his face, grabbed my small knives, and thrust them at the 2 other guards in front of me. The hilts of both knives sank into their heads. the last man looked at his 3 companions. They were still standing, yet they were dead. His face paled. He turned to face me, but all he saw was my knife, and then nothing. All 4 men fell to the ground at the same time, dead.
I grabbed my scythe, and slammed through the door. A woman was standing in the middle of the room, arms tied to the ceiling, feet shackled to the floor. 3 men were also inside, each holding knives that they had used to slice the poor woman to shreds with. I swiftly decapitated the 3 men with ease. I then cut off the ropes and smashed the shackles binding the woman.
She was still breathing. I carried her outside, and gently laid her on the grass. I knew this woman. Her name was Tomi. She was the priestess of the UA. Why was she not there? Why was she being tortured?
Her eyes fluttered open. Her breaths came in rasps. She looked at me and smiled.
"Flame, I knew you would save me." she coughed, blood dribbling out the side of her mouth.
"Tomi, why were those men trying to kill you?"
"They are Underground assassins. They were sent to..." she coughed deeply. Blood splattered onto my cheek. "...to kill me."
"Why does the UA want you dead?"
"Because I have a message ... a .... mess.." Tomi's eyes closed; her breathing stopped.
"Tomi!" I patted her cheek, but it was no use. She was dead. My tears dropped fro m my eyes onto her forehead, tracing a path down to her chin. I placed her on the grass, crossing her arms. I knelt over her and wept.
Tomi was the only person who thought that the kidnapping of my family was unjust. She had prophesied that nothing good would come of it. She was the one that sent messages from me to my wife and daughter. She was the only one that cared.
Why did she have to die?
I stood up on unsteady feet, and all of the sudden, a light shone from the sky. It cast a golden haze over Tomi, lighting up her body with light. I stood there amazed as I watched all the cuts on her body being healed. Her chest started moving. Tomi opened her eyes. She rolled to her side, looke up at me, and smiled
"Flame, I have a message for you from God. " she rose from her feet. "Thus says the Lord God. Do not be afraid, Flame, for you are the tool of my wrath on the Underground Alliance. I will be with you for all you days. I will guide you so you will prosper in all things. Take from me this gift, for with it you will defeat your enemies.
Lying on the ground next to me was a golden sword. I picked it up, and as I held it, flames burst forth from the hilt. The fire dug into my soul, before blasting out my eyes for a brief second. the fire left my eyes, and the light from heaven disappeared. The sword stopped burning, revealing an inscription on the blade.
BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU FOREVER.
I turned to Tomi. She had knelt to the ground, playing with the flowers.
She looked up to me and said "This is your destiny. Be sure to do all that God says, for only by Him will you succeed. Oh and umm..... you better control your anger. That is what feeds the fire in the sword."
"Anger?" I lifted the sword to look at it, then forced myself to think of my mom. the sword became a furnace.
"Good."
I am 3 days walk away from my friend. God told me what to say to him when I saw Him.
