Y'know what's funny, mate?

I'm almost going through the same thing. Almost. I can definitely relate to the issues surrounding being compared to geniuses and others. Definitely.

I can't relate to your mother's insane drive to make you into a genius. I have a mother that's at the top of her field and is so freaking amazing--and she is showing me how to be even better than her. I've had this woman that has been pushing me to be the best I could be from the second I plopped out of her vagoo. And it's shown, mate, and I appreciate my mother in every way possible. I even extended "mother's day" to "mother's weekend" for her.

I can't even begin to comprehend your mother's diabolical push for excellence. I just can't. It's impossible for me to comprehend. Your position right now with her prodding you into becoming a superior person isn't quite helpful in my opinion, though. I can't see her seemingly random pushing helping you get anywhere aside from the mental asylum.

I can perfectly understand your self-consciousness. I weight 240 lbs, I'm 6'2, and I have more hair on my body than a gorilla. I don't have a six pack. I don't have a chistled maw. I don't have huge muscles that tear at my flesh and rip apart the shirt I'm wearing every time I flex. Comparing myself to these images that pour in from everywhere about strong men, geniuses, and generally 'superior' people.. I feel pretty dang meek. I understand that predicament all too well.

I'm 16 and I see a lot of the problems that you have are a lot like mine, dude.

This kind of s**t shouldn't be crammed on us. Heck, our past generations haven't had this kind of crap crammed down their throats. Mandatory schooling in the western hemisphere had only begun about a 100 years ago. Geniuses were only a concern of aristocrats and bumbling idiots of the upper clergy.

Physical fitness has only come into the social light when 'the media' was invented. When information began to spread faster and quicker, these images of these 'perfect persons' began to bombard people. It's pure s**t. Purely and completely s**t.

Zaraki--this kind of bull shouldn't be slammed down our throats. It's.. Stupid. Purely stupid. Absolutely stupid... And it should change. I hope it changes...

You shouldn't feel the need to crawl into a hole and die. You shouldn't be forced into becoming something you do not want to become. You should be allowed to be a normal teenager, with normal dreams, and be allowed to be yourself. It's complete bullshit that you're being slammed through the world in such a way.

And I can only imagine the multitude of other teenagers that are facing this same pressure. I can only imagine the ******** idiocies of these 'superior', 'smarter', and 'all powerful' adults. It makes me angry. So, so, so, very angry. There's probably more than me and you who are suffering through this crappy pressure--and there's probably even less communication about this kind of thing.

Methinks there needs to be a change. We need to give the institutions of today a big long '******** you' and change this kind of s**t. It's pissing me off so much. This kind of thing needs to change. This bombardment of pressure, of ideas, and of crap shouldn't be allowed to continue.

It's going to kill us. I'm positive it is. Heck, the suicides in Japanese schools, the killings in the USA, the pressure from everywhere to excel and the non-stop-never-ending-bull-crap-about-becoming-super-smart-and-super-rich s**t.. It's going to kill off a generation of people. I'm positive it is.

First, you can call me Conner.

Second, I never knew there was a limit to journal replies. New one by me.

And, finally, I totally agree with you. If it was statistically possible, I would agree with you 110%. The things we go through, the need to be perfect, or at least to be superior in one field...is asinine. If you're average, you're never remembered. You're just a face in the year book. You have to be the best to be known.

It's a true statement about how badly this worlds blows sometimes.
