Our loyalties are to the species and the planet. We speak for Earth. Our obligation to survive is owed not just to ourselves but also to that Cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring.
-- Dr. Carl Sagan
Silent screams fill my ears as I watch her form be ravaged by merciless claws,
My heart bleeds as I helplessly cry out,
My voice muted by the mechanical cackling of her attacker
Can’t you hear her begging you to stop?
I scream
Can’t you feel your soul being shredded with each cutting dip into her unsuspecting womb?
Why won’t you listen?
Stop it, stop it,
O please, make it stop!
Brown blood covers her once beautiful green skin,
The gentle swell of her bosom no more,
Now, a barren plane upon which yellow monsters crawl
How can I help?
I must defend her,
She gave me life
I must rescue her from the most terrifying of all monsters,
But how can I aid her?
How can I protect her from myself?
