Keeping This Promise
I'm trying to keep this promise
But I'm not sure it's one I can keep
I said I'd stop myself
But I have nightmares in my sleep
I try to refrain
And it's now been a week
But it just keeps getting harder
To find the happiness I seek
You notice I hide
Behind this mask
But holding the tears back
Is a very dificult task
Like in the picture you saw
I feel trapped in my past
Everyone else moves forward
But my pain just seems to last
You said you'd find
My true smile
Cause I need help
Since it's been quite a while
You made me promise
To stop inflicting pain
And maybe that'll help me
So I won't go insain
It's like I'm addicted
To hurting that arm
And I just can't help
But put myself through harm
I need you to protect me
But only from my mind
I just can't stop the feelings
And the emotions that rewind
I need someone
Cause I'm afraid of what I might do
Save me from myself
I've put my trust in you
