Inspiration: I'd fight for you - Jason Derulo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was rain. Sheets of it, blocking everything. He couldn't see his own hands and he was pretty sure they weren't that far from his face. Soaked to the bone with everything from water to blood, he tried to listen. Tried to use any of his senses to figure out where everyone was.
This was one of those moments when he hated the rain. The sound of it roared in his ears and blocked out everything else, he already couldn't see. Forget about smell. All he smelled was rain and mud. It washed away the blood and sweat, the smells of battle. Left him disoriented and completely lost. Yeah this couldn't get any worse.
Pushing himself up out of the mud. Ty felt heavy, tired, and cold. His clothes felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. He couldn't see or hear anything, and his whole body felt like a live wire, charged and ready to attack at the slightest anything.
Then it stopped.
When rain stops, it kind of slows down. You can feel it growing softer, sometimes it does it fast...other times it fades slowly. This was stopped. Drops froze in mid air like time had been frozen, and the world was suddenly....horribly silent. Ty's whole body froze with it, his lungs catching on his last breath as his eyes grew focused. He could make out every single drop in perfect detail.
Breathing out slowly, he watched the water suspended in front of him quiver with his breath. "What. The. ********." The words were hissed out slowly, displacing more drops. Reaching out, he watched as his arm move through the drops, tossing them from their original positions. None of them stuck to his clothes, or his hand they just moved out of his way.
He didn't really know where the thought came from when it did finally hit him. He was looking at a drop of water when her name crashed into his head. "Sora." Somehow, he didn't know how, this had to do with her. After all he'd been about to loose when it started raining, he'd practically given up because as good as he was. He wasn't that good. Not enough to face a hundred men, a hundred vampires. Suddenly aware of his surroundings again he pivoted on his heels mud and water spraying up around him.
Where once there had been an open and grassy field there now stood a muddy swamp. The vampires that had been minutes ago beating him to a bloody pulp were gone. Yet something was wrong. Something inside of him didn't feel right.
"Sora, what did you do?" He whispered, suddenly terrified.
It took him a minute to work up to his usual vampire speed. His body felt weak, he was still bleeding in places, which meant that he was low on blood and therefore not healing as fast as usual. The mud wasn't helping either. His feet kept sticking in it and he had to wade through half the field before he was able to find more solid ground. The whole time he cursed the vampires, himself, and Sora for whatever stupid spell she'd cast to save his sorry a**.
Finally he reached pavement and the running was a lot smoother. He became a blur of speed, the wind slicing before him and causing next to zero resistance. The mud and water dried on his clothes as he left the field and the storm clouds behind. He didn't really know where she was, but he could feel her and he followed that feeling. Ignoring the tattered streets and houses, remnants of the not so successful battle.
"You're going the wrong way."
"Wha-"
Ty jumped slightly, and skidded as someone appeared next to him. He nearly didn't recognize his sister in her new tattered and blood soaked outfit. Someone had even cut her hair, and it was chopped unevenly. A deep cut seemed to start at her cheek and continue almost to her chest.
"Looking good sis."
"******** off Ty, as if you can talk."
"Whatever, how do you know where I'm going anyway?" He huffed, he felt winded, and he had to put his hands on his knees to help catch his breath.
"Because I know that look on your face. You're looking for Sora."
"Yeah, alright...wait what look?"
Kari scrunched up her face, furrowing her brow and wrinkling her nose. "This one." She said, mocking a serious voice. "Like you're constipated or something."
"You know wha-"
"No time for that, you're going the wrong way."
"I can feel my wife Kari, I think I'd know what way to go."
"And I can feel an element." She crossed her arms "Sora knew you were getting your a** kicked so she sent the storm. It called the vampires to her."
"No..."
"Yes. They're there now and they're beating the crap out of her too."
"Wait, but I can feel her, how can I be going the wrong way?"
"I don't know Ty. I just know that water is calling me from over there." She pointed to the east, "It's in pain Ty...which means she is too."
"********..." He chewed his lip, eyes narrowing. An idea seemed to spark in his mine though "Can you still fight."
"Of course."
"Alright, you go to water. I'll follow my 'feeling'. If it's not Sora I'll come to you."
"You sure you can go alone?"
"Yeah."
For once Kari didn't argue. Without a word she shot off in the direction she'd pointed to. Ty sucked in another breath, steadied himself and started running towards where his gut told him to go.
----
The place his gut told him to go was the Zoo. Or at least right outside it. Sora...or at least someone who looked like her was slumped against one of the outer wall. Around her were at least fifty of the vampires he'd been fighting, as crazed and frenzied as before.
Keeping them back from her was a bloodied T-Rex, deep gashes in it's skin bleeding and half limping it still lashed out. Some of the vampires seemed to have gotten to close to its tail or jaws, but all in all the majority of them were too fast.
Standing back, Ty suddenly felt a fury bursting through his veins. It was red hot and boiling, giving him another dose of adrenaline. Lifting his arms he called the darkness and was pleased when it responded in the shape of a heavy battle ax. Not really his choice of weapon, but axs were good for chopping and he was planning a lot of that. The darkness was like ice on his palm, and it seeped up his arms, sinking into his skin...locking the ax in his grip. Using him to power it.
Seeing red, and with a battle cry that sounded eerily like the roar of a lying Ty sprang forward. In one swing he successfully dislodged the heads from three of the vampires in the back of the group, and got the attention of the others. In a horde they turned and rained down on him, clawing at his skin with their sharp nails their fangs sinking into his skin. Still he didn't stop swinging, throwing his weight into each swing he killed them in groups sometimes two-three at a time.
By the time he'd reached the last one, the Trex had changed into a tall human woman. Juliet had collapsed from exhaustion, curled around he charge. Ty wrenched the black ax from the last body and moved towards them, stopping only as Juliet's head snapped up and a low growl coiled from between her bared teeth.
"Control yourself Vampire." She snapped.
Unsure of himself Ty could feel the darkness coiling inky and black in his mind. Forcing it back with a hard shove, he shook his arms till the darkness and ax dissipated. "Sorry..."
Seeing the darkness leak from his eyes like black tears, Juliet nodded and relaxed, slumping again. Her eyes closed and her head lolled to the side, still her arms kept a tight hold on Sora.
Gulping nervously Ty moved forward, reaching a hand to his wife.He didn't have to touch her to know she was alive, but barely. Her heart sounded like it was a million miles away, beating so softly he almost wasn't sure it was there. "What happened?"
Juliet didn't move, didn't even lift her head or open her eyes. "She could feel you." her voice was a low, raspy whisper. "Could feel them beating you and knew that you were dying. She sent water to help you. I was fighting at the time, I got hit and the injury translated through the backfire bond." He flinched, noticing for the first time that Juliet and Sora both had a blood wound, barely covered beneath their shirts in the same spot. "It disrupted the spell. She ended up sending Water out completely." Juliet sucked in a breath and winced, Sora's unconscious form doing the same. "We were weak already, without Water she just collapsed. The vampires sensed the magic interfering and I suppose they split up to look for the source." She shifted again, eyes fluttering and half opening.
"Is water alright?"
"Kari went to her, I don't think she was doing much better than you two though.."
"Figures, Galexy says the elements are strong but they need their vessels now. They're weak without them."
"Alright well I'm going to get you guys somewhere safe to heal up, so no more talking."
"Take us to Water..."
"Are you sure?"
"We'll heal faster if Sora is whole. Take us to Water.."
Nodding Ty reached over and tried to pick up both. Only, his strength was almost completely gone and Juliet was heavy. Usually he had enough strength to carry both, but not this time. After two failed attempts Juliet shoved Sora at him. "Go, leave me here."
"No..but.."
"SHUT UP. AND. GO."
