So, this entry is going to be a little rant of mine, because I saw something in the Exchange not long ago that kind of pissed me off.

I've seen multiple complaints about "elitism" on Gaia. Let's face it, this has been going on for years. I joined Gaia in 04 and even then it was an issue. Now, as someone who used to have a Gaia net worth of over 65 million, both in pure and rare 03 items, I'd hardly call myself "supah rich" like many 03 users can, and do, but I think I understand the value of being "wealthy" on Gaia. Even I can't understand this blatant stupidity and the almost obsessive need to stroke one's little e-d**k.

This person was selling an item. It is the Exchange, after all. I think we can all agree that a person has the right to sell an item for whatever they want. It is, after all, their item -- price as you desire. I think we can also agree that the Exchange is a place of business, unlike the marketplace, which caters to strict buy and sell while feeling the effects of inflation. The Exchange is a place of bargaining, profiting, and somewhere users can obtain items without the massive blow of a 100% mark-up from average price. I think this is common Exchange practice. Now, as I said, a person can price their item however they choose. If they want to sell for ABP (average buy price), go for it; below ABP, go for it; or heck, even above ABP, full speed ahead, captain. Your item, your discretion.

I would state that majority of users, when venturing into the Exchange, are looking to purchase items for "in and around" ABP, though normally a bit lower. Myself, for example, recently purchased an item via the Exchange for 20k less than marketplace price, which was ~10k less than ABP. I think this is common Exchange business.

The thread I happened upon, to my most severe misfortune, had a user selling a few items. They were asking for above marketplace price for their items. The ABP was ~200k below listing price. So naturally, people came in, and offered in and around ABP, since that is, I think, the general consensus of starting business in the Exchange. Not only did the seller refuse to negotiate their asking price, but they insulted and belittled anyone who offered around ABP. Let me give a few examples of what I witnessed.

"You obviously didn't read my first post, where I said I would sell for whatever I wanted. God, noobs these days, so stupid."
"I don't give a rat's a**. These are my items, I will sell them for whatever I want. Why are noobs so stupid? I joined in 03. I know more about this than you do, noob."
"I'm better than you. I'm worth probably 300 times what you are, noob."
"I don't care if English isn't your first language, noob. I bet I speak more languages than you do."

There was constant childish "lol" emoticons during all of this, as well. Like I said, I don't dispute the fact that a person can walk into the Exchange, and sell an item for whatever they desire, even if it's 100 million above marketplace price. That is their right. My issue is as a follows:

1. Don't sit there on your little playdough throne and proclaim that you know more about the Exchange than anyone else. You don't.

2. Don't call people noobs for partaking in common Exchange business practicum. You know, the people who don't grasp the function of the Exchange as well as you do.

3. I think it's time to change that tampon. We all know you've been here since 2003, but that little cotton friend of yours isn't as valuable as you think.

4. Your net worth doesn't make you better than anyone else.

5. No one cares how many languages you speak. You're a b***h, and I think that's the only "language" anyone really cares about.

So let's have a summary boys and girls. Being an older user doesn't make you better than the person who joined January 7, 2012. Please, price your items how you desire, but do, at the same time, remember that it is possible that your pricing isn't as "elitist knowledgeable" as you may think, and say. Yes, people offer low ball offers -- it happens. Do what the rest of humankind does... tell them to add a little. Don't sit there with your little makeshift Burger King crown and go on and on how you're so much better than them. And last of all, we may not all speak Pheportian, but we all understand b***h, and that's the language that will close your business faster than being a 2012 "noob!" Gasp!

Anything else? Oh yes.

lol wink wink lol lol STOP BEING A NOOBLETTE lol wink lol wink lol
