After cheeking Face Book, I was forced to remember that a cult classic will be dragged though the mud in 2013. I am taking about Katsuhiro Otomo, Akira, if you like Sci-Fi and haven't read Akira then your missing out. Katsuhiro Otomo, also had a hand in the anime movie, based on Akira.
Anyway Hollywood is white washing the cast, and changing the setting from Neo Tokyo to New Manhattan! To make mater worse, I have read that the title character, Akira will be turned in to a creepy evil kid! That isn't who Akira is at all, Akira is a victim along with the other kids who where experimented on. Also I have read that A Kaneda and Tetsuo, will be given a Dr. House and Wilson friendship. Ok in the comic and the anime Kaneda and Tetsuo become enemies, in the comic this is do to Tetsuo leaving the biker gang that him and Kaneda are part of and making trouble for everyone, before killing his former friends, the only person form their former gang who is left alive is Kaneda.
Also Tetsuo uses Akira as the figer head, for the Grate Tokyo Empire. There is a women who is a cult leader. The Japanese army, they are only impotent for a little while, and all kinds of insanity. Sadly everything that I love about Akira will be striped from this low quality up coming movie!
So why do Akira if they intend to strip it down so so much? They seem to want to make a 9/11 movie with out putting in any effort, and what better way to do that then to get the rights to and kill Katsuhiro Otomo, Akira!? The cast has been White Washed, and I hate everything that I have read.
