Dear X,
I have thought in depth on the question you posed yesterday that I seemed unable to answer. After careful consideration I have deduced that if Facebook’s relationship status ‘It’s Complicated’ could be used in the Religion spot I would have to place it there. I found on my walk home yesterday evening I was without music and deep in thought, I have been known to get lost in thought on occasion, during this thought or reflection time of the transpiring of the day’s events I was completely spaced from reality upon entering reality once more I found myself visualizing a fight where I was surrounded by the physical embodiments of all religions and I was fighting them away from me. A song came to mind during this ‘epiphany’ if one would stretch it so far to call it that. Enigma has a song called The Same Parents. I personally believe the song was not bent toward a religion as much as a philosophy. The lyrics go like this:
We all had the same parents, many million years ago. Why can’t we live in freedom, without with no war. At the beginning we all had one mother, and one father. That’s where were descending from, I don’t, I don’t understand Why so much hate between races and religions, it’s mad, insane. I don’t understand why it has to be like that.
I agree that the world had to start somewhere and descending from a single se t of parents seems logical. Now Christians believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans. I do not believe this song makes reference to that. I believe that this song is speaking on a different level than what first meets the eye. Leave out the bits about parents and we find that it singles out humanities greatest problem, bias against race, religion, creed, orientation, sex, ECT. Our world would be a nicer place if religion wasn’t imposed on people every day. If people were to respect each other as equals the world would improve substantially. The issue with this theory you may already see our current state of being is over steeped in hatred and bias. I am as guilty as the rest; I lay down all my problems as this is an open forum. I have done my share of racist comments and ‘jokes’ and I do regret everyone for I had no right to make such vile comments.
You may be wondering how this ties back to the question of religion. If not then I applaud you for following my piecing together of this story, if you are wondering how it all fits then let me explain. I will at no time defend something I do not invest a piece of myself into UNLESS the thing in question is being thrown down by a force greater than it that bares no right to act in the manner it is. There has been many times where I fought tooth and nail for something at the end of the day was as fruitless as a desert. I cannot sit idly by and watch something or someone be taken advantage of or be bashed for opinion. I claim no religion as my own and in doing this I am freed to focus on attaining a higher level of self awareness and focus as well as knowledge and wisdom through practice.
I find this a most practical application in the sense that I am never bound in a set of bylaws and guidelines I am free to learn and grow as I see fit. This is my life I should run it!
It was a pleasure speaking with you, Obscure Signature Obscure script
