The oceans are poison to the touch. The rain will only make you a bit sick if you touch it. Everyone wears raincoats made of water resistant reeds and other plants: think of Taiwanese and Japanese peasants. Humans survive by fishing the monster fish, and using their giblits in a chemical process to purify the water. Plants that are edible are of course also cultivated, but it's hard to get enough water from them. A lot of monsters are spiky chitinous things with poisonous flesh, but make good knives. A few, though, have to filter the poison out of their bodies like Earth life, and I imagine they'd have distended bellies so suggest the powerful organs; the monster fish above among them. The brute humanoid race (maybe Orks?) can live off the flesh of monsters, at least the muscles if not the fat and giblits where poisons concentrate. Sea Faring, since they resist poison so well (compared to us). I want the shores to be jagged and pointy crystals and chitin spikes (but it's maleable) and so they come to shore in smaller boats than they travel with. Mutually benificial if they trade fresh giblits for monster meat, so nicer than Orks on most worlds. The only pure places are protected from the water, surrounded by mountains. There might be forests there. There might be elves or pixies only known by the dwarves or mountain spirits. There might be flying creatures that only leave the pure places with a purpose. Beware the great daddy of the things that are excreting all this poison.
