The Big Bad Beetleborgs?
Looking back, I can entirely see why. Leave it to me to not get into the uber-popular Power Rangers, and fall in love with the soon-doomed BBBs. I mean, for Gaea's sake, they called the transformation devices 'Beetle Bonders'! Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.
The premise of the story is that the three main characters, with the help of a ghost-ally's magic, become comic book heroes, the BBBs. Problem is, the comic book baddies can come into 'our' world, giving them an actual reason to use their powers. There were three BBBs, 'Blue Stinger', Green Hunter' and 'Red Striker', later becoming 'Chromium Gold'. 'Titanium Silver' and 'Platinum Purple'. Their powers were telekenisis, Super speed, and Super strength respectively. (Betcha can't guess who was the chick.) Anywho, they had guns, and weapons, and Assult Vehicles. They could also turn into their respective bugs at one point (very useful, never know when being a fist-sized flower beetle would come in handy.)
...As I go on, maybe the BBBs were best forgotten.... 'Cept when cleaning our house today, mum found an old BBB costume part. I hope to whoever's up there that I never seriously had a Red Striker Beetleborg costume.... Please, no.
There wasn't really much of an ending, some of the bad guys were finished, other weren't, and no one really knew if 'our heroes' were going to ever finish their battle. Serves 'em right for wanting to be superheroes, eh?
With lame tranformation calls like 'Beetle Blast', and 'Bug out' to the lamer de-formation calls like 'Back Blast', 'Bug back', and 'Blast Back', ('Beetle Blast' was used twice) it had all of the American Dubby goodness of Power Rangers. Minus all the crazed children worshipping it.
