Silence before the Storm
the forest, quiet and still
the mist wrapping itself around me like a shroud
the faint sounds of life beyond the trees
the sing song rush of the river
mother natures' orchestra.
the sky darkens, and the clouds grumble
the wind rattles around the trees
a howl rising from the space around me
a single drop of rain
the sky begins to cry
a torrent of water pounding at the ground
lightning striking, thunder roaring
there is no sign of life now.
the clouds part, all of a sudden
the rain diminishes, then stops.
there is a silence.
