Lex grew up in the orphanage for practically all her life. So did Jake, but if she recognized him she wouldn’t say anything about them being in the same orphanage. The way she figured, he didn’t recognize her, and even if he did he would have nothing to do with her. There was a time when they were friends, but then something happened that they, both drifted away from one another. One more so than the other.
Maybe one of the reasons why she didn’t recognize him was because he changed so much inside and outside. She just changed on the outside. However on the inside, she was still the same changing for nobody. She made up her mind a long time ago that no matter who she met, she wouldn’t change. Even if they wanted her too. She would refuse to, and that has a power all its own. People have tried to make her change, even tried to get her to behave like a lady. But, she knew that whatever they wanted to do to her on the outside they couldn’t do the same thing on the inside. She would just make as hard as she possibly could for them to change her. Finally, one by one the people who wanted to change her, slowly gave up.
The orphanage tried to change her when she was little, however, that only wanted to have an outlet to escape what they were trying to do to her. She started writing about it, next she started to sing, then she started doing art, and finally she started doing dance. For the longest time, she kept it a secret from them. She grew in her outlets she wanted to do. She tried to get as much writing and practicing done as possible. Even though trying to keep her outlets a secret was hard, it was worth it.
Like all secrets, they don’t last forever. One day she got caught by one of the matrons, and was taken to administration office. They scolded her, told to leave, on the condition that she would never return there, and that she gave them a performance. So she gave a half-hearted performance, packed up her things, and left never to be heard from again.
A few years late the orphanage was closed. No one really knew why. Maybe it was the upkeep or the fact that they were falling behind on their payments. Whatever the reason, and the promise that they forced Lex to make was broken. She could return there if she wanted to now. So far for some reason she never yet made a trip back there. Unknown to her something was left there for her. No one knew what it was, so they never told as of yet.
