I went over to him and hugged him tightly, "Don't leave me without telling me...please..." I tell him weakly, "I'm tired of people leaving me without warning..." He held me back and wispered to me, "I promise." Then Root picked me up and kissed me on the cheek then he looked his smooth river eyes into mine and all went dark again.

I woke up to the sound of steady beating wings. He did that on purpose! Curse him and his perfect eyes! "Are you upset with me?" he asks innocently. "You made me look in your eyes on purpose. What are you planing?" I ask him. "Oh nothing," he says looking his eyes into mine again. I force myself to turn away, "I doubt that. Just where are we going?" I ask trying to fight the trance again. "Oh come on, are you afraid I'd make you faint again if you look at my face?" he teases. "There's fear and then there's being wise, and it's your eyes. Not your face." I answer still looking away. "Are you saying my face is ugly then?" I turn to him, "That's not what I-" he cuts me off with his lips gently pressing mine. When he pulls away his eyes look directly into mine and I drift again into the dark.

I wake up lying on cool grass with Root tightly hugging me with one of his wings keeping me warm. I shift, trying to get him to let go but when I hear his even breathing I can tell he's still asleep. Curse him and his perfection. I silently lay there waiting for him to wake up.
