A normal Afternoon walking through the park playground, fourteen year old Krystal Garlet, hurries on her way home. Her mother had asked her to go finish some errands and to hurry home. She hurried even more as she thinks about what her mother would say if she were late for diner. As she exited the playground she felt like she was being watched, so she turned around. She saw nothing out of the ordinary, kids playing in the park, elderly women chatting on the benches, teenagers gossiping, nothing was different. She turned and continued her walk home. She got that feeling again and turned, again, and once again there was nothing there that was out of the ordinary. So she walked home again, the feeling returned yet again but this time she paid no heed to it and ignored it. Kristal turned the corner and saw something out of the corner of her eye, a figure following her. She walked a few paces forward into a bakery going up to the counter examining the pastries like any other customer, always keeping her eyes to the window and the door to see if anyone had followed her in. She kept at it for a few minutes until one of the employees asked her if she wanted anything. “No, thank you. I’m just looking” Kristal told her. The woman went to the back of the store. Kristal exited the bakery. Kristal looked in all directions looking to reassure herself she was completely alone on the street. She continued her walk. Two blocks away from her neighborhood she looked over her shoulder and for an instance saw whoever it was that was following her. It was a boy, her age, with short hair and with the strangest hair color; white. But before she could turn entirely he disappeared into thin air. Ok, now that is weird. She thought. Kristal turned around and froze. She was staring into a pair of green eyes. For a second she lost her balance, for he was standing to close, and fell backwards to the ground. She landed in a sitting position, but kept staring at the strange lad that was behind her just a second ago and pulled a Houdini act somehow and appeared right in front of her. For a minute they both looked at each other, Kristal being startled, showed no signs of moving. The boy didn’t move either, but instead looked at her head to toe. When she realized he was looking at her, she stood up and glared at him. “What the hell do you think your doing? Checking me out like that?!” She practically yelled at him. She noted his cheeks turned a slight color pink, but he said “I wasn’t. I just…” “You were what?” Kristal demanded. He didn’t answer; he just stood there staring at her, no specific emotion in his eyes. Kristal was beginning to get a little freaked out at the way he was staring at her. “I’m sorry” He said “if I offended you.” “Of course you offended me. You were checking me out.” “No, I’m sorry it looked like that but no I wasn’t, honestly.” He said. “Fine…, then why were you following me?” She asked. “Because I need help.” He plainly answered. “Then go to the police.” Kristal said, sarcastically, as she walked past him. “I can’t.” He said. Kristal turned around, “Why not?” She asked hoping that he would have recognized she was being sarcastic. He hesitated, and then said “Because no one can see me.”
