In English Class once, we had to write what poetry was to us. So, this is what poetry is to me:
Poetry to Me To me, poetry is something I can do when I’m bored and enjoy it, but people worry about me for. When I write poetry, though, I don’t even try to rhyme. It’s too hard and when I manage to do it, it never sounds right and it doesn’t say what I want it to say. When I write poetry, I’m not expressing my feelings, but the feelings of other people I make up and I’m sure many like them around the world. And my poems are usually in first-person. When I write, I want the reader to think and try to understand the person in the poem. And just, I just try to get them to think. For 2 minutes or 2 hours, I don’t really care. Just want them to think. And maybe in some poems they get the lesson (if there is one), which is usually, no matter what, don’t go and ruin your life.
