Feature Charity Questing and need that extra help? Try out this feature charity! Exploring the many charities on Gaia this one stood out. Not only has this charity helped out millions but it's track record is one not many can boast about. How does this wonderful charity stay on top? Below is and interview with the current manager of Flowers of Japan. Questions: 1.You page has been running for over a year. Why do you think people favor Kimonos? I would say it's because they're one of the more intricately done items available on Gaia. They're not extremely high in price (compared to some things) but on the flipside, they aren't incredibly cheap either. Plus, they really do make a complete outfit, whereas if you buy just a pair of pants, you'll have to keep going. 2.Why Kimonos? Our love of Japan, beauty and culture. 3.How much have been donated so far? Millions upon millions from kind Gaians. We also get whole kimono and yukata sets from very generous people...in all honesty we've lost count. But I think I'll make it my summer goal to have this counted by September. wink 4.Where do they come from? The people? Everywhere. People get referred to by friends, they see the old thread in the memorable threads forum, they're new and looking for a nice place to hang out. It's grown beyond a charity, and we've all made some wonderful friends in that thread. 5.Is there anything you wished you knew before opening the charity? I didn't actually open this charity. The Flowers of Japan has gone through several owners...DivineSaturn was the original woman who thought up the idea, she and Grondax ran it for a good long while. ForeverZero has also helped a great deal, and currently it's under the management of Astellus (me) and Kenchan, Flower of Japan is simply a dummy account. I'm almost sure that we've been running it for over a year now. But from my perspective what I wish I would have known before taking over a charity is that what it starts out as, is nothing like what it is now. Rules are added and deleted, there are generations of FoJ'ers who all joined at similar times and got their kimonos at similar times too. It's groups of friends and meeting new people...and I wish I would have known just how much fun it would have been...because I would have started a charity sooner. wink 6.What is the down sides to your charity or charities in general? Being so big we do attract negative attention from time to time, but the mods have been extremely excellent, and the good far outweighs the bad. Also, true to real life, we do get into real fights from time to time, but the FoJ has always managed to pull through. 7.Do you like hosting a charity? I absolutely love it. The friends alone I've met along the way have been worth it, but also (as cliched as this sounds) I really do truly love giving back to others. 8.How would you describe a 'good person to donate to? Someone who is on Gaia for more than just the stuff. Someone who enjoys the experience of meeting new people and is kind to those around him. New or old, we all need a little charity from time to time, it's all in the attitude. 3nodding

Old clip A segment from Arwens “Gaian times” There is some wonderful interviews that still interest Gaians and should be noticed The GAIA Times June 30, 2004, issue 3, volume 24 “Interviewing our Mods- the ten questions you've always wanted to ask (Part 2 of a series)” 3. If you had the power to change one thing in Gaia forever, what would it be? Remme: I'd give myself a Halo. Aerion: This is a real tough one.. ^^; As we already talked the admins into taking the Personals down, I guess I would have to say that I would have the 'karma' system fully enabled, and somehow (though it'd be impossible) penalise the assholes, and reward the kind people. Xiahou Dun: I would change the mentality of some people. A lot of Gaians have become so greedy that it is scaring away people. If you look at a large portion of the people who have left GAIA recently, they are all tied to the Exchange in one way or another it seems
