I already posted his death (Omega Team - Mission One) but it doesn’t really convey how important he is to Kit’s life. So here I have a little bio on him:
Like Kit, Nathaniel was a magical genius. That meant he received just as extensive and brutal training as Kit did. However, as with Kit, while his training gave him knowledge what it lacked was any kind of real challenge. When he saw something new he was always able to learn it with ease. So once he was finished with his training and he took his exams at GMT he set many records and was put in the field he worked in his own lab, cracking every puzzle that he came across. But still nothing challenged him and he grew bored. He made a best friend in Richard Trent, and when Richard found Kit and began to train her Nathaniel noticed. He heard how people talked about her brilliance, even at her young age everyone said that she was already at his level. With his interest peeked her began to watch her. At the age of eight she beat all of his records and he decided he would help her training. Before Kit met Nathaniel she never thought strategically but since she could easily pick up any skill she learn to think this way very quickly. And after a while Nathaniel found his challenge. So they began to play games, at first they were harmless. But now that he had an equal Nathaniel refused to let go of it and began to escalate their play because he desired an even bigger challenge. He eventually took it to the point of physical violence. Fearing for the safety of Kit as well as others within GMT Richard betrayed Nathaniel and kicked him out of GMT. Over the next year Nathaniel tried to regain his balance but all he wanted was a challenge. So he started to loose it completely. Nathaniel came to believe that the only way he could keep the challenges that he desired was with Kit and the only way to get to Kit was to get rid of Richard. So he devised a plan, something that he was exceptionally good at, and murdered Richard. His last thread with his good side was eliminated that night as he killed his best friend and this would lead to his brother’s death, at Kit’s hand. But Nathaniel still needed a challenge so time and time he attacked her every time it concluded in draw but slowly Kit started to learn from him. Until on that mission she was finally able to stump him and stop him. She knew enough to see that he wouldn’t ever give up unless he was dead so she killed him. The thing is that most disturbing about Nathaniel is not that he was an unbalanced psycho but all of the similarities he shared with Kit. They were both found by the Trent family and endured very difficult training and hardships. They were extremely talented magicals with very high IQ levels, to the point of genius. They both set many records and were left unchallenged in the mental arena except by each other. They suffered through their brothers’ deaths and being betrayed by their best friends. They both had very similar existences and had been fighting demons since early in their youth. In fact looking at these similarities it is easy to see how much of a miracle it is that Kit was able to stay on track.
